I wanted to post something about RC (remote control) stuff, but noticed that we didn't have a section on the boards here for that.

There was hobby gaming, and the tech section I thought might have been the closest related subject. I wanted to post something up to see if anyone else was also interested in RC... well, anything RC related really. I'm going to start working on an plane in the following months after I get back from working up in Whistler.

Star Wonder

My brother, mom and her bf all fly rc helicopters and airplanes all the time almost every day. ^^

I think such a board would be a great idea.  There's a vast amount of hobbies out there... it could take off like a rocket.  Or an RC Plane. :P

Floats huh? Depends on what they were made of and how long they are. I know of retired guy named Ivan who is part of a yearly RC event thing in Chilliwack. They fly their plans out of a little lake out there.

their made out of wood, thier not finished yet, they need some coating of resin or something to make it watertight and a good paint job. the floats themselfs are aout a meter long each

I think a General Hobby board would be great.  Considering i love babbling on about my car XD i still smell gear oil on my face from putting a new clutch in today actually ^.=.^

Something specific in mind that isn't covered by the current structure? If it's an event related to your hobby, there's the Event board. If your hobby is technology-related, there's the General Technology Board. And the Artists board can be interpreted broadly to encompass many hobbies.

i have an R/C Plane and they might fit my .40 malibu top wing. got any pictures of them? i know that a new set of floats are usually between $50 to $150.

i also would love to see a Model Building section for R/C, figures and stuff like that. i have RC monster trucks, Boats, Submarines and Planes. ( 1 of each)

Ok, Ratt, so what do you do with it if your hobby is knitting?  It's not gaming OR technology based.

Knitting can go in the sewing board.

I think a hobbies board maybe a good idea. Things like RC don't quite fit into other categories like crafts. And general technology makes you think of computers and stuff mostly.

I have a high performance RC sailboat that's being shipped down from Alaska right now :) May take the time to take that out again.

wow, when you get that take a picture of it for us R/C fans. i've never seen a hiPro sail boat before

When I get back from my gig up here at the Olympics, I'm going to be sending in a couple of orders for scale RC plane plans, done in electics. I wouldn't mind finding a few people who are also into stuff like this, building or flying.
