New ratty

Hey all!

Wandered over from Furry.ca, figured it couldn't hurt to hang out here as well. I am a rat of the 'roof' variety, Rattus rattus I believe, aka 'black rat' although that isn't my coloring. (Light brown/gray fur, whitish underside... fairly usual. My avatar is pretty accurate, courtesy of the awesome Lady Serpent)

I've been in the community since around 2005, and have met some of my best friends through it. I don't express my involvement as often as I used to, but I hold my connection to furry quite close.

Music is one of my favorite things in life, and I write and play a lot of it as well. I'm generally capable of somewhat proficiently producing a sound from most anything that's played with a pick, sticks, or the palm's of one's paws, though for me that mostly encompasses the typical 'rock instruments' of guitar, bass, drums, etc. I sing as well and love doing it (my main instruments are guitar and vocals). I am also a trained recording engineer and have several industrial rock albums out under the name Swimfail; pretty much the usual 'one-person studio project/live backing band' setup that always seems to be the method of choice for industrial projects. Got a brand new album coming out in early October.

For a living I work as a sound designer and pixel artist for independent games, usually for the iPhone/iPod touch... generally making enough to live in this wonderfully decrepit little house on a hill with some awesome roommates and my brother. (I live in Victoria on Vancouver Island, though I'm not sure how long I'll be staying here)

I also draw now and then, creating art of both the abstract and anthro varieties. Writing is also something I indulge on occasion. As you can probably tell by now, I get bored when I'm not creating something. :) Speaking of which, you can find most of my non-band work at my site. (Almost forgot, there's also my DeviantArt and Youtube accounts)
