I have been watching the forums pretty close and it seems dead.
I even posted looking for friends to hang out with so what's going on did every migrate to a new forum or is the bc funded branch out on a limb

Try finding a more active local furry community anywhere and report back.

I've been part of many forums that have gone weeks without posting, and this one around major events flourishes! There are subcommunities beyond this online forum, a number of good events a month, many good posts a day, even in winter time.

Here should have been hehe
stupid phone

I am not talking events and that jarb I am talking being social
Especially outside of video games and hiding indoors for such extended periods it makes vampires outsidey

Sawyer

Yeah it seems like it has been pretty dead recently. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed.

the Chilliwack furs have weekly meetups where we talk about very little furry stuff
we go out for sushi(although trying other alternatives) and then we go to an apartment and play rockband and cards against humanity. We'd like to meet up more frequently..however work prevents that

As for forum activity...I think a lot of people in general have migrated to social media (facebook in particular) and Skype/other messengers and email.

I personally am always looking to hang out. However I don't drive and live in Chilliwack so getting places is a challenge as one can imagine

AeroShade

Yea I don't drive either I am limited to areas within training services and biking

It's for this reason that I am trying to get people together and hang out in North/West Van. I don't know where you're located but if you're in that area you're welcome to come. I posted it in the Events > Lower mainland section.

Also, I don't tend to get out much since I am just about as introvert as they come, but at the same time have the power to overcome that. It's a strange combination. Most introverted people you'll almost never see because they tend to stick to the shadows more often than not, which is what I used to do and still do. It's kind of depressing for someone like myself really, and makes it hard to meet like-minded people. :/

I only joined this forum a few days ago and already I noticed the activity on it isn't crazy, but there are a few reasons for that. One is that people have busy lives outside these forums and prioritize that over the forum. And I get the feeling that there are quite a few people who simply lurk and don't say much. There are probably more reasons for it, but all-in-all it seems pretty normal to me. Especially since this forum is also very specific in the fact that its BC only pretty much.

It's that type of season. Most people are busy or too poor from rl stuff to attend furmeets and do activities. It tends to get more busy come spring and summer, but there's a lot of dinners you can attend

AeroShade

I live in burnaby

It used to be quite active on the forums all seasons all year but me I guess

I can't necessarily speak to the "busy" part - sushi is always over-full and there seems to be quite a few here looking for stuff to do. As far as the "too poor" part - I know the events I post (for the most part) are FREE - including Christmas dinner!. I can't speak for the other meets, but I haven't really noticed anyone posting anything that "costs". So I am not sure it's a) about money or b) about time (for everyone).
Just my 2 cents ...

I've yet to visit your dinners gizmo, nor have I gone to the sushi. It's a little late to be going to a sushi place in a different city ^^

For me, it's mostly willpower. Most of the events happen on the weekend (I'm usually pretty busy throughout the week, so my weekends are rather valuable to me) so it's what I'm wanting to do

From what I can tell, most furs have switched to Twitter.

Forums have become an archaic mode of online communication and, depending on how many topics you're a part of, they can be really annoying to keep up with. Most of them have looked the same as they have since 2003 when I first found the greater furry community.

This particular group of furs in the BC area have become so tight-knit that most of them just talk to each other on Twitter, Skype, SMS, whatever. People use this site to figure out when meets are happening, and then they go to them. After that, they meet enough people to hang out with that they don't need this forum anymore.

The forum is still somewhat useful though, since it enables people to make that first connection with other furs, prior to chatting nearly exclusively on some of the IM platforms you mentioned.

That's certainly true for me, since I spend far more time on Skype than I do here. However I find myself coming back, because the forum seems to be a better source of info than word of mouth, when it comes to things like meets and such.
