Not sure what you mean by "furry/therian friendly." Like... stores that don't care that you're furry or therian? Kinda like the LGBT-friendly coffee shops?

yes, for example there used to be a bar in calgary that we'd all go to that welcomed furs and support everything to do with the fandom although the owner was not a fur himself

Ok, well... I'll start off by saying that the furry community isn't THAT popular. By that I mean, most people don't know what furries are, and you'd be hard-pressed to find any bars/shops/etc anywhere that specifically welcomes furries.

It's not like the LGBT community, that's been around for a long time and most folks have a general opinion about. You'll find LGBT-friendly places because it's a recognized issue and some shop owners want to make those folks comfortable knowing that they won't be judged by coming into their establishment. Furries? Why would a shop owner feel the need to recognize furries?

I find most places don't care what you dress like or what you do as long as you aren't screaming R rated stuff or in fursuit.   Being respectful to other customers makes you welcome.  I've gone to Kink and Transgender events at random local and chain coffee shops.  If you are planning a event that needs privacy or fursuit room, then speak to the staff about reserving a private area which is what Kink munches do.

Hope that helps! !

Well yeah, because other than hockey, football and baseball, AC is like the only thing that generates any real revenue for the businesses in that area of Pittsburgh. Those shops are used to having several thousand furries invading the streets once a year and it would be stupid of them to NOT welcome furries under their roof.

The only places I can think of that would openly welcome furries to come and hang out would be the fetish clubs and the like. I don't think you're going to find an average coffee shop or bar in Vancouver or otherwise with a "Furry-Friendly" sticker on their window.

In the end, being furry isn't anywhere near the battle with society as it is to be LGBT. If you're looking for shops to welcome you, it's easier to leave the furry thing at the door than it is to denounce being gay in order to be served. You can have your sushi nights and furmeets at regular restaurants and bars; just don't expect them to be over the moon with joy to have to accommodate someone fully decked in a fursuit. And if you're defiant enough to wear a tail and ears in public, then it's your call if you want to experience the ramifications of it.
