A Dumb Mutt

Hey, I'm kinda looking for someone who knows what they are doing with singing. Trying to improve, not sure how to other than meeting someone who knows their stuff. Uhh

Samurai Kai

I'm no expert but I know breathing and having a straight posture helps. Also to warm up. Singing is a very tricky thing. I've always tried to control the "breathing" whenever I sing, like make sure you can "control" your tone with how you breathe, because if something sounds off when you sing (like when you try to sing a bit higher or lower) it can help to have control and such, and some people's vocal cords just can't go very low or very high but with practice I believe that it can, it's like physical training fitness... that's all I know, really. Just practice makes perfect, and try to do a little bit of research on singing I suppose. That may help a lot!
I am but a blade in the crowd.

I have seen what comes of those who raise themselves above others.

Well first and formost you need to know how you want to sing to decide what to focus on right? I like R&B and such so I focus on holding notes and runs and such. I've been singing my whole life so if you wanna chat then hit me up :3
What's up everybody!?

I might be of some assistance. I can't claim to be a professional singing instructor BUT I do have an idea of what I'm doing, I'm versed in music, and I've helped quite a few of my friends learn how to improve their singing. Maybe we could talk? :O

One thing that's important (that Kai mentioned earlier) is singer's stance (AKA posture). It's needed in order to open up the chest and sing to the fullest of your ability. While on the note of YOUR ability, don't try to mimic someone else's singing voice because that ruins what you have unique to you, and it ultimately kind of ruins the singing voice all together.
The main basic points if you want to work on singing is vowel shape, being able to control the brightness, space, and energy of the voice, and (just like Kai said earlier as well!) Breath management! Also facial expression is a huge thing to work on because it effects who you're singing to emotionally, and generally changes the colour of the song. Like for example, singing a happy go lucky song with a frown kind of effects the emotion/colour you're aiming for in the song greatly... Along with it looking silly as well lol.

Also in terms of practicing, I suggest finding out your range first of all, and work with that. Silly practices like seeing how your head voice transitions into chest voice is suprisingly quite crucial and helpful. Along with even just going up the scale on a daily basis helps out tremendously.

Just a few basic tips, I'm not that experienced with explaining singing so sorry if anything sounds a little bit odd lol. ^^"

Get a microphone and record yourself.! Hear what you sound like without your voice rattling inside your head.

If you are familiar with the Bee Gee's, Maurice, one of the twins, would sing with a hand cupped in backwards in front of his ear.  Something about doing this gives you the impression of what you sound like to others. He did it to sing on key.
Give it a try.  Like chicken soup, it couldn't hoyt to try.
