The first snowfall of December

We are all driving slowly tonight,
Everyone is afraid they might skid on the ice,
It's the first snowfall of December.

There's a fine power under my wheels,
I like how it blows and the way that it feels,
It's the first snowfall of December.

I see the lights glow in the newfalling snow
And the sky turns red like a fire.
Now there the plows go and wherever it shows
They will just push the drifts a little higher.

Now I'm home and I think I will sleep,
While outside the fresh snow keeps on piling up deep,
It's our first snowfall of December.
