So I finally managed to watch the movie, a sequel to one of my favourite movies of all times. This sequeal didn't make me laugh once though. I watched the movie and I was enjoying it, but there was some problems that were bugging me.

- They introduce this mother character of Hiccups, who shows off all this amazing stuff she's learned about the dragons. The problem for me is, her character really has nothing to do with the movie at all except to show some kind of boring 'hey here's what dragons can do' thing. They try to use the trick She gave Toothless and he uses this trick to avoid the tail this time! But there's two problems for me. One, The tail of the first alpha dragon they fought from the first movie had a mace at the end of his tail and that's what got him. Second, Toothless was unable to get out of the way because his tail guide was broken, not because he had spikes up in his back.

-When they brought in the Alpha in to fight the other alpha, It just confused me why anyone thought this was a big deal. Toothless and Hiccup already took down an alpha in the first movie, so it would have just been another one to take down. There was also plenty of times where the dragon opened his mouth and toothless could have very easily have just shot into his mouth and killed him. Not to mention, where was this mind control shit in the first movie? Yeah they toyed with the concept that dragons follow hives insctively, but they never did a fight of willpower in the first movie.

-The romantic plot with the jocky girl. I just found this really confusing and really forced. Not to mention the one time where they catch her and she falls in love with them, neither of them were even looking at her and trying to win her affection which they've been trying to do the entire movie.

-Mr Generic bad guy. What really is the point of him? To have a bad guy? I feel like his plot, his motivation, and his character was just really boring and uninteresting. It would have been cool if Hiccup did convince him to end his fighting but no, there was really no point to it, it cut down on the screen time for what should have been an interesting plot...

Hiccup becoming the chieftan. This is what I felt like this movie should have been about, and what it really should have focused on. Not having a generic bad guy to fight, but Hiccup learning to take responsibility and assume the role of chief. I feel like this should have just been the story, Hiccup and his journey to discover who he was. It even had the elements that pointed to it being the focus of the movie, with his mother being a free leaf and trying to encourage her son to enjoy him, Hiccup saying he wanted to learn more about himself before he'd ever become chief. His own fears about losing the precious time he has with toothless. But no, it's all just dropped and not brought up again.

Sorry for the long winded rant. I just had a lot of things that kept springing up to mind when I was watching this movie and I just felt like it could have been a better movie then it turned out to be.
