Hey I bought over 150$ worth of items, including a shipping fee to the sender of the products (From the usa), when I got my notice it says i owe 40 dollars to canada post. Is this because the shipping wasnt payed or its just a Fee because of the value of the product? I have 17 days to get it. help!

Normally, when a package goes over the border, you pay a fee for it. Just like when you travel from US to Canada, you pay a fees for items coming into canada. Its normal. Not all packages will get it but it is to be expected when receiving packages from anywhere that there could be possible extra fees. (You can contact CanadaPost.ca or search their site for more info. )

UPS and Fedex tend to have their own customs brokers, and charge their own fees for getting it through, sometimes after delivery. When USPS passes it through to Canada Post though, it is up to Canadian customs to decide if they will process the package and see if any items are taxable, prohibited, etc and such and the money must be collected on delivery. It's a lottery.

This is why certain eBay sellers (illegally) mark their items on the customs form as gifts, or commercial samples, often with very low values and a vague description hoping it slips by for you and they get a better rating.

You probably have bought it from the USA because it is less expensive or not available near you either way, so it is not a major upset you need to pay such fees for such a service of getting it to you.
