Yarn Tail troubles

Been working on my yarn tail and I am having some troubles figuring out how to secure the tassels to the core. I've looked and looked and looked for video tutorials and none have proven useful.

Some suggest gluing which I do not want to do cause that will ruin the flexibility and cuddle factor.

Others do knotting but actually fail to show how they knot it. The one video that I found that showed how to knot did not work. The knots loosened and the tassels started falling off at any brushing done to the tail.

The other technique is crocheting which is also not feasible for me either and I do not like the result I have seen from the crocheted yarn tail.

Any help with this would be great!
