Alright so I moved to Burnaby about a year, maybe year and a half, ago and my GP I used to have back in Maple Ridge was not very helpful.

I'm still experiencing new things living out on my own and its come down to finding a GP now. I have some medical things (will spare you the long explanation of things you probably don't want to hear about) that I should be keeping tabs on but due to being busy with school and stuff after the move I kinda let it slide. Now they are nipping at my heels and I'm stressing out over it.

Spend most of yesterday in emergency at Royal Colombian in New West because of allot of pain around the left side of my heart. The pain has been getting worse and started a couple weeks ago as just a nagging discomfort, but gradually becoming more frequent and intense. They said they didn't find anything and to just take some Advil and not to worry about it. I should be going for biannual Eco cardiogram but they wouldn't do one because I don't have a GP to send it to.

I've started looking for Dr.s but it seems that if you want a good one you need to know someone who can get you a referral, or you have to jump through hoops to get one.

Also looking through the several lists online of BC Dr.s and checking out possible candidates and reviews on them whenever I find one that sounds like it would be a good suit and I phone the number, they always seem to be some strange place and then I don't end up getting anywhere. One of them ended up being a drug rehab clinic, another was a surgeon, there was also an office that was only open from 9am-12pm 2 days a week >.< So I don't know if I'm just not having luck but its been a stressful experience.

My standards are not that high, I'm naturally nervous and shy around people I don't know very well so a good/friendly personality and someone who is knowledgeable are pretty much what I'm looking for.

If anyone has some information that would help or wouldn't mind getting me a referral I would be much appreciative.

TLDR:
Need a GP in New West / Burnaby area, any help or a referral would be appreciated ^^

If your willing to go to New West there is a Doctor in the care clinic in the basement of Royal Columbia Hospital named Dr.Navy whom I just recently switched to cause my family doctor was nothing but drama. Dr.Navy has been pleasant and extremely knowledgable plus helpful. First visit she goes through a long (but more through then any doctor Iv met and Iv had a few now) list of issues or any medical history she may need to know to help her later if you have future issues. By far she is one of the best doctors I have met. She is taking new patients but I dont know for how long. :)

Ps forgot to add she works along side Dr.Combana who is a hypertenson specialist whom I saw for awhile, I had similar issues like yours but mine turned out to be my blood pressure pills were dropping my heart rate too low so my heart would speed up and almost vibrate at time which I have blacked out twice from. Once I stopped those pills I havnt had an issue since but Combanna did a ton of tests and even made me where a heart monitor for a 24 period which was interesting and told a huge story which helped us. :) sorry its posted so late but hope it helps.
