Townsite is pretty much the only good thing about Powell River :P. I was glad to see their stuff down in Van because they really seem like they care about beer.

Haven't posted for a while, but I realized I haven't shared a new favourite of mine which I really think some of you will like.

From Nanaimo, Longwood's Steam-Punk Dunkel.
You see, what they've done here is take a man wearing an old-timey suit, given him a vacuum tube for a head, then perched a bird wearing goggles on his wrist and set them over an art-deco, gear motif.
I-N-S-T-A-N-T  S-T-E-A-M-P-U-N-K.
Well, at least someone is attempting to tap that market and thankfully it's a quaint little brewpub with a good product.

It comes in full, imperial pint cans for about $4. Dark in colour, light in body, heavy coffee notes and a crisp, dry finish. Despite being so dark, it's even good on a hot day.
Not in any way is it a good example of German-Style dunkels. But it certainly is dunkel and at least they didn't try rhyming 'Dunkel' with 'Uncle' like so many other breweries have.
Though I happened to meet the guy who helped come up with the name and when I applauded him for that, he said they did consider it.

For the quantity/price/quality. I think it's a great everyday craft brew.
