no CANADIAN holidays on the calendar

i don't want to seem picky but i am NOT an amurican.  I AM CANADIAN and proud of it.  i notice a couple of things on the calendar that have me a little perturbed.

i refer to the notation on the calendar for Nov 22, the amurican thanksgiving, whereas the CANADIAN thanksgiving has no mention except for a late posting for a dinner.  i also notice that on Nov 11, REMEMBRANCE DAY in CANADA is noted as Veterans day (used in amurica).

granted i am aware that the program used for the calendar was probably designed by an amurican and therefore the information was installed into the programming, but i see no real reason why the info for the CANADIAN thanksgiving and name for Nov 11 could not have been added.  Oct 8, Canadian thanksgiving, Nov 11, Canada Remembrance day - US Veterans day, and Nov 22, US thanksgiving.  there are other dates that are specific to each country and should be noted as such

my apologies if you are an american but being as we live in Canada, i feel that the Canadian calendar should take precedence over american calendar events.  i do not mean events such as Rainfurrest or similar events but those that are national days of importance.  Victoria day in may is not mentioned yet the amurican date of memorial day is.  in june the amurican date of flag day is mentioned.  july has both Canada day and independence day.  BC day in aug isn't.

my intention is not to offend anyone but to bring to your attention that the amuican dates are mentioned and CANADIAN dates are omitted.  if we were living in the USA then i, as a CANADIAN, would not be writing this.

This forum was not built from scratch as that requires tremendous effort and time. The template for this forum was provided by simple machines forum and, if I'm not mistaken, is an american designed software. So the calendar feature is a default application that has non specific general north american holidays. While there isn't B.C Day on there I don't recall seeing Martin Luther King Day on there either. I can't say for certain that you can change the holidays on the calendar, but since it is open source, if someone is willing to put in some time to change it, it could be possible. Since no one really uses the forum's calendar to keep track of Canadian holidays, I don't think anyone has actually noticed and felt the need to change it. I'm with you for the changing of holidays, but note that it's no ones fault that it is like that.
I've always been told to never look a life behind a window to go outside and join the world, but what about the world behind that window makes the outside so much better?

Isn't this a rather trivial thing to be complaining about?

So yes, I can manually add and remove holidays, but it's not a high priority. But go ahead and list a handful of what's the highest priority to add or remove.

I have to say, I didn't really pay much heed to the calendar myself...

We have a calendar?

The "Calendar" link next to "My Messages", it shows a calendar superimposed with events registered through the forum, and users' birthdays. I find it a useful tool to get a grasp on what is coming the next few weeks, and maybe Canadian holidays can provide insight in to if you know you have something else planned.
