Introduce a species

So I got thinking, the island is pretty diverse with a multitude of species of animals, but what would make a cool addition? Could be marine, mammalian, reptilian, or avian. But if you could pick one living species that exists somewhere else on the globe and drop it on the island, what would it be? and Why?

I'll get my bias out of the way by saying for me: Kangaroo...they populate very quickly. So you spend the winter acquiring mass orders of boxing gloves. Come June, you round up all of the roo's and strap the gloves on them and let them loose to kick some tourist ass! The island just got very Youtube friendly.

Alternatively I'd have to trade our bears for polar bears. Yeah it might be more dangerous for the human population but polar bears are just such a kick ass predator. They'd fix our deer problem in a right hurry, and as an added bonus they'd keep the roos in check  ;D Feeds the now starving polar bears, and keeps balance in check for other populations, win-win.

I liked to see if camels can survive on the island. Hae a drink from one side then travel all the way to the other side and have another drink.

I don't think polar bear could survive in a forest. You can't wait for a deer to come out from a breathing hole so you can swipe them. Of course seeing a white ursine walking by between the trees would be quite a site.

I like that I was going to say the exact same thing, but went to bed before I got around to it. :P

I wasn't trying to be realistic about this=P But even if we were, a polar bear can outrun a deer for quite a while...they're fast as shit. Now would he be adept at doing so like a grizzly? probably not used to the geography, but then again, with the deer on this island, you could hunt them with a flashlight and a sock of pennies (they're the dumbest deer in Canada).

So THATS why they are getting rid of the penny! I got a big bottle full of em, I was planning to load em into a cannon and aim it towards Ottawa when next years tax time rolls around, here are your nickles and dimes!

Now as for a species? IGUANA! I love those cute little bastards, and as far as reptiles go, they are unusually tame, even in the wild. Have always wanted one as a pet ^.=.^

If we had the climate for it, I'd love to see more lizards here on the island. Just all over the place. X3

I would say foxes, but I've been getting more and more reports on sightings here in the Alberni Valley, so either someone has released one or two and they are multiplying, or they have some how managed to get onto the island by some other means.

Us foxes are crafty bastards after all... X3

I've seen dozens of Foxes over near cumberland.
TBH I'm against introducing any more invasive species, Gray Squirrels are bad enough- But if I had to choose, Grasshopper Mice are just too damn badass to not have.

They're like anti-mice, They hunt scorpions, tarantulas and other insects, and the occasional rattlesnake.

Now that you mention it, I've only seen 2 foxes since I got here. One at Mount Work and the other near Brentwood Bay.

I saw a fox as a child on Mt Washington.
Maybe saw one a few weeks ago in my backyard too, I was woke up for some water around 2am and remember waking by tge patio and suddenly announcing "there's a fox in tge box!" (box being the vine  covered old compost hutch). I'm not sure if it was a fox or raccoon, I could only remember saying that and reflecting eyes the next morning, hehe.

For new animals...mustangs?  Wild horses would be so much cooler then deer!!

Someone introduced Guinea Pigs in Goldstream park, there's fluffy hordes of them now!!!  They're cute invaders
***Tail high, my fluffy friends.  We are all Pack and all in this together***
