So uh.. i took a quick look through the forums and didnt see a set-up section, if i missed it let me know :P but for now! Post pics of your setups =D be it an old school 20 inch tv and an n64 or some crazy high tech setup. Mine is kinda in the middle... for now >:3

Its a little outdated, ive made a few additions to it since this pic was taken.. *is too lazy to take another one >.>;* but since then i added a surround sound system and some additional lighting :3

Excessive? Maybe, but what guy doesnt need a nice mancave setup?

Theres a video for the setup aswell on my youtube channel but, please excuse the horrible camera quality and/or the occaisonal swearing.. i do that alot ^^;
Kippy's Setup v3 updated again. (Reuploaded cuz youtube is retarded)

took me forever to set up my surround sound.. specially with how my desk already is and such, cords... cords everywhere D: also.. do i see farcry 2 ontop of your pc tower there?

Alloud

This tiny desk is what I have to use so long as I'm going to school. d: So this is my "temporary" setup, lacking my sound system and other stuff.
I keep things fairly clean, with the exception of devices that like to charge via USB and have no where else to sit. 8U
While I'm at my desktop I only use the laptop for IRC, MSN, Facebook and the like, but it's still a capable gaming machine. :3

I left my 360 at my parents' house, but brought the Wii and use this TV (which is smaller than my monitor, haha).

Because... Gaming PC. d: The 360 doesn't hold a candle to my rig, and has very few games I like that can't also be found on PC.
I can also run homebrew and emulators on the Wii, as well as back up all of my games on USB storage so I don't have to drag any discs around with me. :3
And I'm also a die-hard Nintendo fan :U

Old Twitpic of my setup. The right monitor's been since replaced with a 24'' HDTV/Monitor combo. (I can get a couple of HD channels over the air on that monitor. PS3 also hooks up to that)

Also noticed one of you got a Shaw Cisco modem/router. I flat out refused to use the Cisco and requested they get me a Motorola Modem, which they eventually got me.

Motorola is recommended if you own your own router already, as using that means there is no hardware firewall/router between your own router and the modem if it's a direct connection. Cisco is offered as a convenience thing to first timers, but the hardware is surely not as good. Not using it in bridge mode could factor in a bit more lag, because it needs to go through another router into the modem.

I convinced them kindly to look in their warehouse for a Motorola, and they got me one. It will get more rare and rare as time goes by unfortunately.

The only thing the Motorola can't do is the highest speed tier, 250Mbps.

I'm seriously jealous of your rig there.

And here I thought a desktop and laptop was cool! =>.<=

Just speculation, this tiger is not up to date with everything.

With the Motorola they provided, I had to buy a silly $50 D-link just to get a wireless router a year or two back. The Cisco one they provide now (for free?) is $150+ on its own, why not use that instead?

Is it a router/modem combo? I am not sure it has a coax connection on the back, I assume Shaw would bundle Motorola anyway to plug in to the Cisco router, I think.

If I recall correctly, only business cable can go that high. The 250Mbps (/8 bits = 31.25MByte/s) residential is fibre internet which I believe Shaw EXO is. The Motorola (cable modem) is the wrong thing then maybe for those speeds and needs to be replaced upon upgrade, probably for free.
The farther one travels, the less one knows.

EXO is their upgraded DOCSIS 3.0 cable network. It's capable of pulling 250Mbps.

Haha, well, the only reason why I have this setup is because I was out in Edmonton for the better part of the last 5 years... that required technology purchases in itself... and now that I'm back in Vancouver, I had the option of merging both. So I did. :>

The result has been pretty awesome... aside from the extra heat added to my room.

Desk Area 1: badges, dvds, dvd binder, extra shitty 5MP HP camera, old memory cards and various other crap lol
Computer Tower: Desktop - The Ragnarok
Athlon II X4 635 @ 2.9Ghz CPU | ASUS M4A88TD-M Mobo | 8GB DDR3 Corsair XMS3 1600Mhz RAM| XFX Radeon HD 5770 1GB GPU | 1X 2TB WD Caviar Black SATA3 7200RPM + 2X 1TB WD Caviar Black SATA3 7200RPM Hard Drives | Corsair TX650W PSU | Coolermaster Hyper 212 CPU Cooler | LG 22X DVD Writer | LG L1953T 19.5" & Samsung 941BW SyncMaster 19.5" Widescreen LCD Monitors | Antec 300 Case

Desk Area 2: 12 watt AWESOME Labtec speakers (aka as loud as a small sound system on their own), monitors, wicked Gigabyte optical mouse with red LED's, Logitech 710 wireless keyboard and mouse set (mouse is for backup use only mind you), 160GB Ipod Classic (only usable Apple product imo), PS3 Eye webcam

Beside the Computer: 320 Watt Yamaha reciever hooked into the onboard HD audio headphone jack for blasting mooziks, 2X 90 Watt Optimus bookshelf speakers, HD438 Sennheiser Closed-ear headphones (never going back to crap mainstream brands) for blasting tunes at night

And Finally, the main event in front of the dual reclining loveseat: 550 Watt Pioneer receiver hooked to the tv via Digital Audio, 2 PS3 controllers chilling on top (mostly used for PC gaming), 2X 120 Watt JVC SK-404 monster speakers (sadly can't use their full potential in my place as they're ridiculously loud), Gigantic web of cables and shit from modems and electronics, Old Wii (since new ones can't play gamecube titles unless you mod it) I got for 45 bucks, PS3 120GB Slim is chilling out in the middle bottom slot since I don't really use it but keep it around in case my TV goes, Samsung (LN40D550) 40" 1080p Smart TV (media sharing directly via the ethernet, no extra special stuff but meh), backup pair of Sennheiser headphones chilling underneath the tv unopened.

Oh, I also use the TV as my secondary monitor (GPU *can* technically run all three but I'm too lazy to get an adapter to be able to do so) for all my gaming needs as well as if I want to be chilling in bed but chatting with people at the same time

@ Acco, what kind of lappie is that? it looks shiny and decent o.o I've been heavily contemplating going after a laptop finally but my desktop is in need of updating (and/or replacing, by turning it into my media server and getting a more up to date gaming pc) and I r poor so can't chase both >.>
