I've been needing to do this for a long time now. I'm at the point where I going to have to get my own website up and running as in registering my own domain name.

I still have an old website on furtopia which has sadly long out lived it's usefulness. I only use it as storage space which is kind of not fair since I'm using it for free. Plus it's only a matter of time before furtopia goes the way of furnation and folds.

So what I need is any recommendations on what I need to do to get a website up and running. I'm pretty good on design and graphic production but my html is hugely outdated. Help is appreciated.

I just bought my own domain name (kithop.ca) and have a little crappy webserver running on an old laptop on my home (Shaw) connection.  It's not much, but it's enough to hold my files. :p

If you guys need any help on the ultra-low end (i.e. you have an old computer, and want an OS & webserver on it), let me know - I know Linux and FreeBSD, enough Apache configuration stuff to be dangerous, etc. n.n

I'm using Dreamhost for my (6, I think?) domains. It's sometimes a bit slow, but they have responsive customer service and are relatively cheap. I pay about $120/year for more space than I'll likely ever use (50GB+) and several TB of traffic per month.

Of course, it's a shared server and there are limitations to what you can do, so there are better options if you want to get really tricky or have ultimate freedom.

I would love to help create this site.  I'm kinda busy right now designing and producing a couple of other sites but I would be totally willing to put you into the queue
