Saw a summer version of the thread further down so I thought I'd mention the new sale that started today.

Looks to be the same deal as the summer sale, a group of games gets put up around 75% off each day (So check every day for games you want). There's also packages that are being offered for the duration of the whole sale, and if you want to buy individual games from a package it looks to be about 50% off, though if you want specific games I'd suggest holding out for it to appear in a daily sale.

There's also some gift pile thing that seems similar to the summer sale camp activities, wasn't able to get too many details on it however because the Steam server was crashing and being unresponsive.

Sale event ends on January first.

Basically a group of six tasks is revealed everyday, one being Steam related, the others game related, so you can always get at least one task done in a day. Completing these tasks rewards you with either a gift or a lump of coal. Gifts can be free games or coupons and are trade-able while coal has various uses and is also trade-able. You can 'craft' seven coal into a gift, trade or give them to other people, or save up your coal and each one serves as an entry for a draw on January 2nd.

The draw is very tempting as the grand prize (Only one) is every single game on Steam, with additional prizes that include the top ten games on your wishlist (50 available), top five games on your wishlist (100 available), or the Vale Complete pack (1000 available). You have to have at least ten games on your wishlist to be eligible for this contest, so if you want to save your coal for this make sure to do that, and arrange them in the order you want!

I got some coupon for 50% off a Valve game, thing is Valve doesn't have a lot of high priced games, and even then Portal 2 which is one of the only games I want from them was on sale 75% today.

Couldn't get any of the awards today either 'cause I owned none of the games, nor can really spare a lot of money so I'm waiting for games that I actually want.

I have 2 coal and half off of any vavle title ... I almost never have the games, and really, I don't care to try for the items anymore. I am enjoying the sales, might pick up splinter cell super deluxe bonus version for like $15 today, instead of the usual $60 :D

Sonic Generations is 11$ on Steam today, if you haven't already I recommend getting it. Probably one of my favorite games this year and definitely worth the 30$ I payed for it at launch.

Debating getting Sonic Generation for myself, maybe a friend too, though I'm not sure how much money I can spare. I have fond memories of sonic as a little kid, would be fun to relive those levels with a modern twist.

I gave away Supreme Commander 2 and Sengoku. Got 13 coal (traded in), 25% valve, 50% dirt3, 75% Empire Total War, 50% X-superbox, 50% alienbreedimpact, 33% id superpack.

The only coupon that is actually worth anything is the 75% off; it's only 50% off on the holiday sale. Everything else is cheaper than the coupons.

I did get the Splinter Cell Super Elite pack, (because I wanted Conviction), and Need For Speed: Most Wanted. $20 well spent.

I have 50% off Section 8: Prejudice if anyone wants it. Will trade coal or nothing for it, don't care. There is no way anyone I know wants that.

For people who may not know, coupons aren't usable until after the holiday ends and expire sometime in March, however they DO stack if the game is a daily deal/midweek madness/weekend deal promotion. So if you have a 50% off coupon and a game goes on sale for 50%, you'll get 75% off.
