Hey furries, a lot of us are starting to work out/lose weight.
You need motivation?  Put regular progress pics in here to help you stick to your fitness routines.

On the left, 220 pounds - January 2009.
On the right, 195 pounds - May 2009.

Abs are just starting to come in, still working on the arms.

Stay tuned for another update in two months!

I've said and done things I regret here, so I just don't do anything instead.

Mirka

Sweet, congratulations on the progress so far!
I'm looking to lose 20~ lbs or so... What are you doing to obtain your goals? Anything special or good old fashion eating better/moving more?

Squishie

Thanks for all your nice replies guys...it REALLY helps keep me motivated :)

Still trying to take off a few more pounds (and gain some in muscle in some places!)

Here's my advice for you Mirka.

Think long term.  You will see results weekly, but goals should be set in months or even years.

Losing weight is 60% diet, 30% resistance training (weights), 10% cardio.
Don't restrict your eating, if you're hungry, eat.  Eat protein and "good" fats (Monounsaturated, Polyunsaturated).  Protein -> Muscle, Good fats -> Horomone production -> Muscle.  At all costs avoid: Sugar, Trans fats.  A good rule of thumb is to avoid eating anything white.  Sugar, white rice, white bread, etc.

Everyone likes to run to lose weight, but running does not build muscle.  Muscle constantly, 24/7 needs to eat, so the more muscle you have, the more fat you burn around the clock, even when sleeping.  Lift weights instead.  Use google/youtube to find proper workouts.

Kithop

That's awesome, and a good mindset to be in - eating healthy, exercising, etc., but never overly.  Always in moderation. n.n

I actually kind of feel like I need to gain weight myself, sometimes.  I haven't weighed myself in ages, but I think I'm around 150-165lbs-ish @ 5'11".  I have like... no muscle. o_o;  I'm starting to get a little bit of a potbelly back (though not really), at least. XD

Getting started is always the hardest part, and that's where I'm stuck right now. :p

Unition

Thanks for the nice words.

An easy way of getting started is to make up some silly rules for yourself.  For instance, whenever you flip a light switch, or open the fridge door, etc., do 5 pushups.
Or leave weights around for when you have a few minutes where you're just standing around anyways (I like to use them while I'm cooking, for instance).

What're you doing to work the abs - anything specific, or a group of exercises?

I've been mostly on the cardio side because of a rotator cuff that doesn't want to stop hurting and makes it hard for me to do upper body weights. It's working, so far - when I get my diet right I drop a pound or so a week, and am down ten in the last couple months since I switched from a bike to treadmill... only 25 to go. =P (Got some serious leg muscles coming along, though!)

Unfortunately what I use won't help you due to your rotator cuff:

(The generic Wal-mart version of this.  Hasn't broken or bent or anything, might as well go cheaper)

Tons of pull-ups.  Every second day or so I'll do 5 sets of 10.

I'm trying to do weighted sit-ups now as well, but they're boring and don't feel very effective.  I feel sit-ups more in my legs than my body strangely enough.
