Heroes you are, Heroes you are.

My father hypothesizes this will make the war on terrorism in the middle east more difficult for us. I disagree. I think things over there will die down after the enemy's loss of a significant leader.

What are your thoughts?
This is entirely speculation I should say.

They confirmed that he is dead, they have the body and all.
And it wont make it more diffcult, but it wont make it disappear either. Someone is there to take his place, there always is.

Zen

Since America is laying claim to the kill for Osama, it is fairly easy for the Extremists to prop him up as a Martyr in the fight against them. It may cause a surge of violence in disputed and "hot" territories in the new few weeks. I doubt it will result in anything major, but it isn't a complete blow to the terrorists.

Now the war in Iraq is ok.. right?
There are 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those that don't.

Even if it made a difference...there will always be
war, as my history teacher blabs on how history attends
to repeat its self and how history is matched to today's events.
It's not yer content, it's how you pitch it too people

Before today I believe most people had forgotten about him.

Kithop

Last I read he was dying of kidney failure and was on dialysis anyway.  Now rather than him dying being almost-forgotten, they've turned him into a martyr.

GJ, dudes - way to perpetuate these stupid wars and make more people hate the US... this is why we can't have nice things. c.c

A lot of the U.S. economy seems to be fueled by war, so is it really that big of a surprise?
Your wish is mine to twist.

Oh wait... wrong movie.
Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, either way you're right.
Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Cry, and the world laughs harder.

Man, Osama. Thank god he's dead and all, but I missed alot of awesome shows due to the ALERT ALERT message on tv. Bleh. He was big for a while, but after 10 years of him I think alot of people forgot about him. haha.

Apparently he was found in a mansion. Living it up before he died.

Also, Not sure if the war is over. Sure the guy is dead, but they said on the news that they can't say.
They won't all just come home magically. They will probably be out there for another 2-6 months.
Just a hunch.

I was never effected by this ordeal. So it's not super big news to me.
It was more of an American thing rather than a Canadian. Just sayin'

This changes very little in the grand scheme of things. Al Qaeda has been a nebulous entity since 2002, and it's been busily spawning or assisting other Islamist cells such as Al-Shabaab or Indonesian efforts. In recent years, Osama was chiefly a figurehead more than an actual mastermind, unable to maintain regular contact or coordinate on a global level with any degree of effectiveness. That particular fragmentation had begun with 1998's American embassy bombing in Kenya, and accelerated greatly with the invasion of Afghanistan. The larger surviving sections of the organization had already been disbanded and scattered for their own safekeeping by about 2002, and in their present state, a large number of them were already effectively independent. This turn of events has two important social ripples; On the American side of things, it gives a good deal of closure to victims of the 1993 WTC bombing, and the 9/11 attacks, a significant morale boost to those who were disheartened that the 'War on terror' was accomplishing nothing. It has also given a group that values martyrs, a very high profile martyr to rally under the banner of. Ironically, a morale boost to some of the more extreme sorts, and possibly to others a warning sign; If they eventually got the highest-level man, they will get me sooner or later. In the end, though? Hate to trivialize it, but it's all much ado about nothing. Osama's personal significance as a leader has been waning for over a decade, and the actual organizational impact will be fairly minimal.

I do however, eagerly await what kind of spin the Teabaggers and the more arrogant Rethuglicans will put on this one.

Oh, they're always great for that. Obama conspired with Osama because of the change from b to s. Can't wait to hear that one. And then I'll laugh.

On a more serious note though, yeah. Osama's death means very little in the long run. Except it makes Trump look like a tool, which is always okay in my book. Obama might win 2012 because of it too. But in the middle east, Osama probably had little power towards the end; we'll likely see more attacks from the same old.

Actually he has been on Dialysis for over 15 years, he has been on it since before the 9/11 attacks
