Ive never really gotten into their music, I mean its good and once I hear it I like it, but I never really followed them. The only reason why the interest me is because all their videos are animated. Which I think personally is very cool. They're art style is different and every character looks like something out of a Tim Burton-esk cartoon.
Btw, are the british, American, Japanese, etc? But I've never actually seen the real artist, so that makes me wonder. When they have concerts, are the actual band mates there on stage, or is it just a screen projecting the animated band members?

Ill post a pic here just to make it look cool

Gorillaz is actually a collaborative group projected founded by two men, but have had numerous guests and a cycling lineup. The Animated characters are just a fictional band, similar to Metalocalypse, but there have been dozens of artists who have actually written and performed the Gorillaz tracks.

You can check out the details on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gorillaz

I believe, for concerts, they just project the characters over top of the actual artists, but I'm sure you can find some youtube footage from a concert to find out the truth to that.

I've found videos of them using holograms, real performers with images on screen, and I've seen one that was mostly just them projected on screens (but I cant find it).

Needless to say, Gorillaz are awesome. :P
reality is subject to relativity.
