Sikhoten_Tiger

Slightly complicated really...

Amur_Tiger has been my handle/gamingID for more then a decade but when I first broke into the fandom I chose a different name, mainly because the character I created needed a more distinct name then one of the other names for his species.

Thus Sikhoten Tiger came to be, representing that the character I created was a tiger form the Sikhote-Alin range, this was more of a title then a name as wild tigers would have little need for specific names given the size of their social groups.

However as his story coalesced some exposure to humans and other furs who placed more value in names and as a result he gained the name Bitsa Medz, the mangled pronounciation of 'Bear killer' in russian by some english speakers working with the Siberian Tiger project.

Zythren

I always just kind of stuck with Chris when I wasn't really all that into the fandom, but when I got hardcore into it, I really got into it.
I decided my fursona would be what I have most in common with, so I picked a snow leopard. Later became the bunny/snowleopard hybrid with funky colors and markings and such. Once I had that, all I knew was "I want a name that starts with Z" because I love names with Zs, and "Zythren" just blurted out. It was the first thing I said and I have no idea where or how it came out of my mouth. It just did. So I feel like it was meant to be. Cheesy, yes. People tend to mis pronounce it as "Zith-ren" which it isn't. It's pronounced "Zeye-thren". :3

So Zythren just randomly happened and was the first thing I said while making my first real fursona, and it's stuck ever since. I luff it :3
I've said and done things I regret here, so I just don't do anything instead.

and you share your name with a book about faeries.

Univaded_Fox

Univaded is a mispronunciation of "Undivided".  I used to read a lot of maps back in the day when roads around here were classified as minor, secondary, undivided and divided freeways.  One day while traveling down King George Highway I told my parents "This is a Univaded freeway!"  They never let me forget that.

WerewolfRedX666

my xbox live gamer tag im so imaginative

Katsuke

Mine's from my Japanese teacher. xD
I was wearing a shirt with a cat on it.. So she started with "Kat" and it eventually became what it is ever since. :3

z00p

Cause z00p@gmail.com is taken, I needed a new nickname, so I anagrammed my full name around till it atleast sounded like something.  Tyranos!
But that was before I had a fursona.  Then I drew a random scalie character.  And my friend told me to name him Tyranos cuz Tyranos sounded scalie.

Thus he was born <3

The story of z00p is a much less interesting one, lol.

Karo the Dingo

I was in a Husky Staition and saw a bottle of Oil and the brand was called "Karo" i thought it was a cool name.

Yeah I have! I think ._.

It was when I needed a new name to use online instead of psycho_fool, and I thought the sounds Mr. Saturns make in Earthbound was cool so I used that.  But I remembered wrong cause they say z00t!, not z00p!
^^;

Ember

Mine is simple, it is the result of running a phonetic J-Lo algorithm  on my real name. You do that and you get M-Br or Ember. It was the first thing that came to me when I first logged into a furry irc server, and it kind of stuck.

The unfortunate side effect of this plan is that it resulted in my having a girl's name  :monocle:

Duffy

I never really had a character name till i was signing up for Secondlife and they asked for a first name. I was watching The Simpson's at the time and Duffman was on so the lazy uncreative side of me just put Duffman  :P
So my name ended up being Duffman Catnap and i thought it sounded cool. everyone just started calling me Duffy, so it stuck.

spuug

The name 'spuug' took a few years to arrive.
In 1988, I passed the test to become an amateur radio operator.
I was given the option of choosing the suffix of my radio station call sign, but it had to be 3 letters.
My initials are WG, so I decided to spell the W as UU, and so I chose UUG.
The prefix was determined by the province where I was (Alberta), so I was given the radio callsign VE6UUG.
I started to use 'uug' as my nickname on bulletin boards.
In 1991, I was studying computer science, and I was friends with one of the system administrators, so I asked to  have my user name changed to 'uug', which he did for me.  (In the unix world, there is a certain amount of prestige associated with short user names.)
I was in a campus club, the Computer Science Undergraduate Society, and one day we were playing a word game in the club office.  The president's name was Scott, and he had the nickname of "Spot".   So we were taking the sp- from Spot, and applying it to the names of the other club members.
Pam -> Spam, Marc -> Sparc,  Kerry -> Sperry, Zein -> Spain
At first I was "Spilliam".  (Scott liked the "spill" part, as in "built to spill".)  But I quickly suggested "Spuug" instead, combining the sp- from Spot with my login name, 'uug'.

I had a copy of "The New Hacker's Dictionary", and it had an entry for "spooge":
spooge /spooj/ 1. n. Inexplicable or arcane code, or random and probably incorrect output from a computer program. 2. vi. To generate spooge (sense 1).
This sounded like it described me well!  (I was unaware of the more mainstream meaning of the term at the time.)
One of my Dutch-speaking classmates made a pained face when he heard of this, but he wouldn't tell me why.
It turns out that 'spuug' is a Dutch word meaning "spit" (saliva, or as a verb, to expectorate), and is used as an euphemism for "vomit".  (Like how we, in English, say a baby is "spitting up".)

So I started using 'spuug' on bulletin boards, and on IRC, and online in general.  Since I came to the furry fandom via IRC, it became my fur name also.  And the rest is history.
