Haha, this all sounds too weird to not be embellished for dramatic effect.

They're paying my tuition so I'm sorta stuck with them. If I moved out now, I can't support Rent + Tuition + Food and etc. on only $900 a month disability payments from the provincial government. Rent these days is at least $800 a month...

... Wish I had that much a month coming in. Any parent that would quit paying your tuition if you move out isn't worth dealing with. They're just gonna try to own you for the rest of your life.

Well, while I'm living off of them, all that $900 goes towards tuition. But as soon as I move out, they stop supporting me and would just leave me with that $900 a month for tuition + rent and all that stuff.

Hope for HD at Howl may not be completely lost though. All I need is the equipment stored at a friends house on a Friday and for that friend to give a ride to the Compass Point Inn.

My parents were RIGHT! There was just a shooting at the Royal Oak Skytrain station! (where I usually get on to go to Revs)

:O

That doesn't necessarily mean they're right. If you indulge in paranoia long enough, eventually you'll see something you're looking for and make the connection.

I lived in New York for a month, and I wasn't attacked once. I'm short and wholly unthreatening but I have a very confident (oftentimes even aggressive) attitude, and I never had a problem on the subways at night. Conversely, one of my fellow group members was paranoid, and ended up seeing danger everywhere, even believing that every time she went out at night, she'd get mugged. Whenever she heard about a robbery or mugging on the news, she'd point it out and justify her paranoia.

Seriously, don't accept their skewed perspectives. You'll suffer for it. The world is NOT out to get you, and, as Selkit pointed out, having your stuff jacked is a very rare occurence.

I was almost mugged in East Van once. I asked the mugger, "if I had any money at all, would I be living here?" He left me alone, thankfully.
