So yeah, my brother lent me his old acoustic-electric guitar, and I was bored. :p

Guitar is an Agile HRB-200-12 BLUE, only standard 6 strings on it, old and dead.
Vocal mic is a Shure SM58.
Done with my Mackie Onyx 1620 board w/ FireWire card and Logic Express 8.

"Waiting" (Orig. by City and Colour)
"Plush" (Orig. by Stone Temple Pilots)
"Rooster" (Orig. by Alice in Chains)
By Zen's request: "Alive" (Orig. by Pearl Jam)
Plague-voice: "You Know You're Right" (Orig. by Nirvana)
Stupid amounts of vocal overdubs: "Play Crack the Sky" (Orig. by Brand New)

Dinsu

Love your voice in Plush! I'm amazed at what you do with that shoddy equipment.. Blows my mind!

You don't need a female vocalist/pianist/guitar.. attempter for anything, do you? <: lmao. We should collab on something someday.
Keep up the good work!

Kithop

Well, the board itself isn't exactly shoddy, so I'm sure that helps. ;p This is just what happens when you've been playing for most of your life.

I'm totally down for collaborating on something or just jamming - what kind of stuff do you like/listen to, typically? :)

Zen

Damn, as I mentioned on FA, I'm totally surprised by how awesome your singing is!  Great for those low-tone grunge stuff! You ever tried doing any Pearl Jam? *hint hint*

Kithop

I don't know/have many Pearl Jam songs off-hand, but if I were to pick one that'd fit acoustic, I'd probably try and do 'Alive'. :p

Maybe; we'll see if I can learn/play it.  Sounds like my band practice is cancelled today since almost everyone (including me) is or is getting sick. x.x  I'm sure all the grit-voice-singing doesn't help my throat. ;P

Kithop

Kithop

No problem. XD  Once I'm not so sick I might do some more for fun as I learn them.  See if I can re-do Brand New's "Play Crack the Sky", maybe in a drop-tuning so it's more in my range, and do it all grungy. :p

Kithop

Because I'm that hardcore, I even record when my throat is already raw from horrible plague of doom.

"You Know You're Right" (Orig. Nirvana)

Zen

Dude!  You should be resting!   But throat of doom is great for nirvana.

I think this is probably my favorite of the these covers thus far.  Damn you for being awesome!  (and having a recording board!)

Kithop

The one spot where my voice cracks (2nd chorus, the +octave register) pisses me off, but at the same time, you listen to the original and Kurt's all over the place.  I don't feel so bad; that's the style, so screw it - it stays in. ;P

I wish I had more range, because the whole grunge/alternative thing does get kind of boring after a while, but you play the cards you're given, eh?

Zen

I heard that, but considering you were sick, amazing you could do three takes of that.  At least you have some decent vocals, I think the best I can cover is the bee gees ... or daft punk.

Kithop

Well they weren't really three full takes; I screwed up timing half-way through, or something like that.  I'm sort of tempted to double-track the vocals like the original, but it's not really the almost-off-the-floor acoustic cover style I'm going for; the overdub solo in 'Rooster' was a bit much, even. ;)

My nose hurts. D:  It's raw from blowing it so much with cheap toilet paper, or even paper towel (D: D: D:) all day. X.X;

Dinsu

Yayyyy! The Nirvana cover sounds incredible.
I wanna hear you try Blitzen Trapper or Nick Drake's singing style.

Me? I listen to just about everything. I have a bit of a hearing sensitivity unfortunately so I have to take metal/hard rock/anything with really hard drums in light doses and don't appreciate them as much as other genres for that reason. Acoustic, folk and alternative are probably what the bands I listen to fall into.

I love Ani Difranco, Xavier Rudd, Animal Collective, Battles, Bon Iver, Cocorosie, Dave Matthews Band, Earth Wind & Fire, Eddie Vedder/Pearl Jam, Freelance Whales, Fun, Gorillaz, Infected Mushroom, Iron & Wine, Jethro Tull, Jonsi/Sigur Ros, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Nick Drake, Blitzen Trapper, Patrick Wolf, Prince, Ratatat, Shpongle, etc.
Anything that isn't sleazy basically.. I usually don't like Nickelback or Brittany Spears or whatever the kids are listening to nowadays lololol

Also WOAH I must have missed that Onyx 1620 part. Jealous! :3 I'd love to learn more about recording in general.
Man I need to start singing and playing again.. I haven't in forever, since University crippled my creative drive. Do you have any tips? For vocals especially.
I'm doing Singing Success lessons starting today but other than that I have no idea where to start in improving.
