I am a musician. Is that nerdy? guitar? playing shows??
There are two types of ppl in this world, those who do what there told, and those who are true to them selves. Most people think your suppose to follow a predetermend path, keep your head down, obay the rules, do what evers popular, but some prefer to find there own path in life.

Does birding count as nerdy? I'm never sure.
Bird watching?!  :D

Yeah. Well, bird photography, to be more precise, but I do try and watch and ID birds outside of that.
That's awesome! We must get together sometime to swap adventure stories!  :D

@Kouta nope, sorry, but guitar falls under "band-geek" which is geeky, :b
Games, music, that sort of thing. Pretty much all the stuff they've got mentioned on the boards are things that I generally consider nerdy or geeky, because all the people I know who do those things are nerds/geeks. Well... All the people I know who do them WELL anyway, :p

Whereas, my personal experience has taught me, that the general equestrian populace does not take kindly to a computer nerd/artist/band-geek/gamer. I am the bane of their existance, it would seem. Seriously, all the equestrians I knew growing up, and have worked for in the past, are very prude-ish and snobby, and not into most/any of the afore mentioned things. So that was my best example.

Well, I suppose that I can contribute to this Topic!
Winter:
I Used to play hockey 3-5 Times a week last year, Pretty much dominated my Life X3
I Continue to spare for friends if they're hockey team needs an extra player ^^.
I LOOOOOVE to Snowboard, But have been lacking the time or funds to do so as of late. Not to mention that the season at my regular mt. has been less than favorable the last few weeks.

Summer/Spring/Fall
...Road hockey, yeah, Hockey's pretty much in my blood .^^"
Outdoors man, It's where all the fun's at!
hiking, running and camping camping always remains my favorite timeless outing. Even more so when there's a combination of the three of them.
Paintball has always been a pretty big thing with me, but my situation is calling for me to fall in with the airsoft crowd. Ex-Mil Friends for the win! ^^

There's sooooo many more things I want to get into with the changing of the seasons! Hopefully someone would like to join me out there!

Lol I love how this thread is about NON-nerdy activities and yet more than 80% of the stuff I'm reading is something I consider to be nerdy. XD

Since it's winter, I'll start off by mentioning the obvious: Snowboarding.
I play guitar, bass and drums, and I write my own heavy/progressive metal compositions.
I enjoy doing "backyard" mechanics, fixing/repairing/rebuilding things like lawnmowers, chainsaws, cars, dirtbikes, you name it.
During the summer, I like to go hiking up in the mountains here in Chilliwack (Mt. Cheam is one of my favorites.)  I used to rip-around all the time on my Honda ATC 200X but now it needs new tires and those baddies are expensive.
And target-shooting with my Savage 111 (.30-06 cal).

1st pic: That's me on the right in the pic. =P (My best friend, Mike, on the left)
2nd pic: One of my projects, a 1981 Honda CR250 dirtbike.  Needs new bearings and a bearing-case ._.
3rd pic: My lovely little Honda ATC 200X three-wheeler.  Muffler is rusted out and it sounds like a damn Harley, but that thing will tear-up track like a banshee.

Call me Naetholix, Neox, Neo or Steve, I respond to all of them. =)

Horse people are strange and everything/everyone who doesnt fit into the rich snobby little bubble is bad. If your horse isnt their IDEAL then your weird.

I show at all levels and have shown all levels since I was little. And have done just about every discipline there is. In several different breeds. I dont fit into any niche. My horses are my friends and thats how they are treated. My one pony Skipper has issues and thats how he came to be mine. We are best friends.

We have had numberous run ins with people at different shows because we didnt FIT in. Or our horses didnt FIT in or behave as exspected. Ive gotten to the point where I dont care. I have the horses for me not for anyone else. And if they dont like it toooo bad sooooo sad. Im happy and love my horses.

Sam our little man got extremely sick and we nearly lost him a dozen times before the vet finally figured that he was on the mend. After 2 and a half years of not doing anything other than being a horse and breeding some mares I harnessed him up. Hooked him to the cart and drove down the road giving cart rides to two fellow furs. With no issues other than his one traditional WOOT Buck. And then he tried to minick what one of the furs was doing. If she picked her feet up high he would too if she sped up he would if she stopped he would too. Was really funny.

All our guys have personality and I wouldnt change them for the world. (Would change some of the things some of them DOOO but.....*SHRUGS* they are individuals.)

Dont worry about fitting in. The equestrian world is not always the best one to try and fit into anyway. Let the horses be the insparation not the people. And dont let the people detract from the purity and love of the horse.

Actually, I learned how to ride a horse when I was younger, too - took riding lessons for quite a while. The people where I went seemed pretty friendly and didn't seem to have sticks up their asses, but I was taking them in Langley and not, say, Southlands. :)

Acco's into longboarding too, Ethan. Never checked it out myself.

hmm, well i don't think i have a non nerdy hobby but I do dabble in 3D graphics design. other than that the closest thing i have to a hobby is my small collection of crystals.

Selkit

3D graphics is a technically nerdy hobby, one we share, Snazzy. Then again, in my case, it's a profession.

I like you, XD
I grew up in a very non-traditional equestrian household. My mom trained racehorses when she was my age, and has always been the odd-one-out at horsey events. She does it for the love of horses. When we had our barn, most of the horses were outside all the time. The only times I've ever really had to muck stalls before trying to work for barns in the vancouver are, was when one of the horses, or the cow, gave birth. And then we'd have to completely strip the entire stall, and all three feet of sawdust, @_@ so when I started working mucking stalls down here.. I was pretty slow, haha. They did not like that.

But I've also proven that I'm better around horses than most of them, so I'm terribly worried about their opinions of me, ;)
