Looking to prototype wearable animated furry head

I have done electronics prototype work in the past including a bit of robotics and computer control work. With the advances in automations and robotics tech. I would like to attempt making a wearable animated furry head, and would like to know if anyone has any ideas or resource info that I could use in this endeavorer.

Any websites, books or information I would find useful, if you find any sites or have any ideas or would like to help out, could you please post a reply here. Any encouragement might also come in handy  :)

Did you have anyone in mind to do the actual... um... crafting/arty part of the head? Having trouble figuring out how best to express that but hopefully you know what I mean. :)

I no longer know how to contact him aside from Second Life, but you can certainly try Lion of the Sun, also known as "Solion Lameth" on Second Life. He produces animatronic heads with some relatively sophisticated electronics.
