I wanted to get a general idea of how many people we have in our group that currently own any sort of RC vehicle, launching model rockets. Or people who have any sort of interest in doing such things. I was thinking, if there is enough of us, I would be willing to setting up some kind of meet, or series of meets, later this year when the weather warms up for those that are interested in doing something together.

I'm also open for suggestions as well with regards to possible locations or ideas for events. Currently, one of the challenges I've come across is that a lot of places no longer allow gas powered vehicles, especially aircraft. Most places are, instead, open to electric vehicles because they are much more quieter and cleaner.

Last year, I posted on here about a RC fly-in meet over in Chilliwack. Unfortunately I couldn't make it due to car problems. I'd like to get something going that is a bit more local and easier to get to if that is even possible to set up.

Post here what you have, or if your just interested in such things. Perhaps a possible location.

I, myself, currently have a somewhat small sized, 3 channel electric RC heli (considered toy quality) which my parents bought for me for the holidays. I've flow it a few times, but haven't really gotten a chance to properly fly it yet. I was also working on a body for a twin electric plane, but the project got stalled since last year.

Neox

Oh hell yeah!  I used to be part of an RC club back in high-school.  I had a Hi-Tec controller and all my planes/gliders were hand-made out of ballistic foam (the stuff they use in car bumpers).

I can't remember where I put all my stuff though. =(  All my machines were destroyed in storage but I still have all my servos, receivers, motors, li-pol batteries and my controller... somewhere...

Maybe I'll have to dig 'em out and find all my building-materials. =P

Call me Naetholix, Neox, Neo or Steve, I respond to all of them. =)

If and when I get back into rocketry, I may be interested; unfortunately, my previous collection's been lost or destroyed back in Alberta.

I've some very light foam left over from the stuff I used to cover my drafting table with. I'd really like to use it to build a flier but I lack everything else at the moment. Would you be willing to collaborate on something? I have some experience with design.

I had a few (read a couple) myself. Eventually they were broken and thrown out due to too many moves and lack of use. The one I really miss was my AstroCam. Though these days I'd like to make some digital version of the rocket camera. Building the rockets is pretty simple. The motors are what get you cost wise, at least from what I last remember.

I had a few RC boats. They were German though, so I couldn't really charge them anymore, and I'm not even sure they work. Lol
I've said and done things I regret here, so I just don't do anything instead.

Selkit

Zythren, you realize you can get adapters for Euro plug formats, right? For about ten to twenty bucks.

Jimfoxyboy

Depends on the age of the battery and how much use they've seen. You should still be able to find a replacement charger and/or batteries from most hobby stores once they figure out the ratings on the battery.
