Anyone still into older PC games?

I recently had a revival of interest in some of the older games, mostly RTS and maybe even a few FPS type games from around the mid to late 90s and even a few years into 2000. With so much focus these days on any new game to come out, I was wondering if anyone still digs back through their libraries to go back to playing those older games they had.

I've been replaying some of the older Apogee games lately (like Crystal Caves and Secret Agent). They're from the early 90s. I rarely get to play a game before its a few years old -- I refuse to pay the prices they want for most new games.

I still like my SimCity 4 XD
Haven't played it in ages though..

When The Sims first came out I wasn't old enough to meet ESRB requirements so I had to wait until 2002.
When I finally had it in my bony little paws that xmas I played it so much that by 2005 I had literally worn the data off the disk. I played that thing for hours every damn day for at least two years straight! 8D  I can remember one day sitting in front of the computer from 7:00am - 11:00pm playing the sims, no meals and only one bathroom break. . .

on rare occasions i go for Red Alert 2 Spurts XD

I'm a huge Half Life fan, and I play the Myst series. :D I am oldschool.

Edit: I used to also play alot of Monolith Production games too like Shogo Mobile Armour Division, Blood, Get Medieval, Captain Claw, etc.

Ha! I still get a lot of my gaming kicks, on the computer, from Sierra's King's and Space Quest series. I was introduced to them when I was five, and now that I understand more how to play them... They are fun!

I grew up playing them as well, but I find them a bit tedious to play these days. Too often I got to almost the end and realized there was something I didn't do or get at the very beginning and thus have to restart the game. Not that it didn't annoy me at the time, but it was my mother playing them as much as me, then, so I didn't notice so much.

pretty well all I play is old school PC games lol I am a huge fan of Apogee's Rise of the Triad, pretty well any Id game from the 90's, I forget who produced the following games though (>.<): Planescape: Torment, Baldur's Gate: Shadows of Amn, Icewind Dale, Eye of the Beholder, and a smattering of other titles from the mid to late 90's that elude me at the moment (my PC game library is Massive).

I love RotT too, good to hear someone else has actually heard of it! Very innovative for its day and probably has the best soundtrack for any game I've heard.

I also love playing the Monkey Island games too, and other Lucasarts adventure games.

Jimfoxyboy

Heheh. I had RotT as well but it was the shareware/demo version. It came along on a CD with a bunch of other games. I gave the CD away at some point way back in the past.

Definately! I still play Starcraft. The first one, if that counts as "older". I haven't been able to upgrade to Starcraft 2 yet, darn the luck. Sometimes I even bust out some of the older games, like Toonstruck, Clocktower, and Commander Keen, you know, the ones I wasn't able to beat as a kid. There is this one I've been looking for to play again, but I can't for the life of me remember anything about it other than it was a point-and-click game with these elves and you had to slove puzzles and there was a big yellow life bar at the top of the screen that would go down if you clicked the wrong thing and scared the characters. By the way, that is not enough info, even for Google.

Well if half life is considered an "a older game" then yes, I still love it and all of its mods.

those are Black Isle/Bioware games, and I too play them ALL the time X3

I'm also still hooked on Civ IV (I don't know, do you consider that "old") as well as some of Sid Meier's older games: Alpha Centauri, Colonization, Pirates. Quake 3 Arena still holds a very special place in my heart, too.
