Just out of curiosity, anyone doing NaNoWriMo this year? I'm sort of considering it (yes, yes, I know, it's five days until November 1st), but I'm a little freaked by the enormity of the task.

Renwaldo

Enlighten me, what is NaNoWriMo?  :D

I almost forgot about this!  I might try this year, see if I can flush out the eight billion pages of ideas I have lying around and turn them into ... something.  I don't think I can do the full 50K, but I'm gonna try.

Not this year; I don't have anything of substance that I can build on to be sure to get 50K words, plus I've got too much work to do. I did this a couple years ago and made the 50K.. it's quite a good feeling to make the cut!

Yeah, I've decided I'm not doing it. But I should write some smut erudite, family-friendly fiction this month.

I think the main reason I decided against it is that I only have the a vague idea for something I could spin into a novel right now - it might be ready for next year's NNWM...

Hehe, yeah, the prep can be a real challenge. I really need to actually finish mine one day... I've got just over 50,000 words, need another 25,000 or so and I'd have a possibly marketable horror/fantasy novel. Lazy bugger, I am, though...

I did it once, failed utterly and horribly the next two times. I personally suggest it. It's a ride. I mean, you don't even have to make a GOOD plot, just a plot. Like make some good characters and go for it.

Doing it for the sixth straight year, and running TWO stories! One is a furry/fantasy epic, and the other is a steampunk world of my own creation.  Wish me luck!

I'm doing Yuletide, which is a much-more-modest project (1000-word-minimum fanfic written for another person, and in exchange someone else writes something for you).

So, I have to write another 600 words by next Monday. I know, poor me, right? 600 words! That's almost two pages of typing! :P

ScaredSacred

Is that a specially-organized event? How can I get in on it?

It's too late to sign up for this year's event, unfortunately. However, you can see all the info on it here: http://www.yuletidetreasure.org/

(P.S. I am down to about 350 words remaining. :) I thought I'd be so clever and pick something with almost no canon, but the flip side of that is that I have to invent almost everything from scratch!)

Hooray, my Yuletide story is done! I can't share it yet, though. :)
