yeah, what Im asking is is that you guys can channel spirits anyway, so isnt the board just actually a way for the spirits to write out what they're tying to say (if they do know how to write, Im sure some of them have horrible spelling) and not an actual door?
the board is just a plank with paint on it, how is that different from a billboard on the highway?

Please don't consider me an expert or anything but my understanding is that our universe is made with inherent patterns and symbols. The board has become one of those and thus has power. You could use just about anything if you knew how to go about it but for those who don't the board is like... like making a burger yourself or going to Mcdonalds. You never know what you are going to get unless you do it yourself.

I've studied and practied witchcraft and Shamanism for close to 15 yrs now, I have had the honor to learn from Ojibway and Ojicree Medince men and woman over that time. As well as studied with a coven in Ontairo for around the same period of time. Definatly a believer in the paranormal and had my fair share of experiences with it.  But, Always question and be skeptical sometimes the simplist answer is the correct one, and its usually a reasonable one.

I have many users of the board tell me horror stories about boards returning after burning/throwing away and reapearing.
It's because you have to cleanse the damn thing and break it in half. I had my elder help me dispose of mine and it never returned.

She had me smug with sage, break the board and submerge the broken halves in saltwater.
She also had to cleanse the whole house.

It was not fun.
I never expect anyone to ever believe in anything I tell them that I have experienced.  Just know I have and respect me enough to know how hard it was for me to deal with.

you don't have to believe. Just be respectful :)

Before I put out my following statements, I'd like to leave the foreword that I am a licensed and practicing Pranic Healer. For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, Pranic Healing is a scientifically proven method of medicine through the channeling of energies from one subject (the Healer) into another (the Patient) to encourage the natural regrowth of cells to create healing.
With this, I also have a long history along side the Lakota Sioux, as I spent many a night with a brilliant man by the name of Dan Yellowhawk, a truly blessed Shaman, as his bodyguard and aide in the rituals that followed.

The answers I will give to any questions asked will be given from as logical of a standpoint as possible. Keep in mind that much of the spiritual world is dependent on belief, which makes things even harder to explain. For this reason, I ask that anyone who reads my following statements does not take anything in an offensive manner.

I will be floating around this thread for the next few weeks, and respond to as much information as possible.

The concept of the "spirit board" (which is merely a politically correct term for the Ouija Board, which was established after the release of the film "The Exorcist") is to create communication through the Medium. Through this, you are indeed correct. However, whenever you create a spiritual bond (be it with the living or the dead), you open yourself to a genuine and intense connection with this person. You feel their sadness, grief, anger, etc.;
This connection is often broken by ending the conversation, with the exception of rather intense bonds. These bonds are felt with people we love dearly, and often lead to "hunches" that let us know that someone we care about is sad or in pain.

These bonds are through the heart chakra, and energy transference will continue between the two subjects until the bond is broken. In most cases, this can be ignored. However, when one of the two is healthy (alive) and the other is ill (or dead), it will cause a constant drain of energy upon the healthy individual. In the case of someone merely being ill, it will last until the illness is gone, and the once-healthy individual will feel the symptoms of illness as well until it has cleared, or the connection has been cut. In the case of the deceased, it works a little differently.

This next bit of information is a bit of a long shot, so you'll just have to go with me on this one:
Our spirits are what creates our energetic fields, auras, etc.; and are what permits our spirits to remain on this earth after death in specific occasions.
(As we do not really know what happens after death, I'll kick the religious aspect of it all out the window and remain on the subject of what is known instead.)
Upon death, the energy of the spirit is generally discharged or dampened. Mediums, however, connect themselves through their heart chakra to these spirits and empower them with their own energies, bringing them to a living strength by sacrificing their own spiritual energy. Much like with the ill person, the spirit will feed off of this energetic bond until it is healthy again (or, more realistically, until it manifests). For most Mediums who are unaware of how this bond actually works, the burning of the Ouija Board/Spirit Board functions as a symbolism strong enough to sever that bond. For Pranic Healers, there is another symbol. For the Lakota, there is another. It's all an effective symbolism to create a disconnection from the spirit to prevent any further drain.

This focus of energy, combined with the power of belief, can create sufficient energy for the spirit to manifest, and to create a "haunting". This haunting generally follows the person involved in the communication, as the spirit is still linked to this individual. In cases where the spirit has not manifested, but continues to drain energy from the individual, they continue to feel the presence of this spirit, and feel it's sadness, pain, etc., due to their bond. This creates the feeling of an intense haunting, and paranoia.

The difference between the Ouija Board/Spirit Board and any old plank is simply belief. People pour their faith and energy into this particular board, and make it something more, whether or not they realize that that is how it works. :)

I hope I was able to answer your questions as accurately as possible.

I do what I can, dear. :)
And thank you very much for the compliment.

Something wierd I've noticed over time.  I don't know why but I can actually kinda feel when something is "off" when driving around, like there is a lot of energy about it.  Not only that, but apparantly I am a walking deadzone now for spiritual activity.  Apparantly after all my outbursts and litterally trying to fight them off and scare them away, there is little to no spiritual energy when I am in the room.  I guess ghosts and poltergeists don't like me anymore, go figure.  Oh and out of curiosity for people who know more on this than I do, is the "dream world" sensitive to the supernatural?  Because I keep having dreams where I am either capturing ghosts in some way like cage them and locking away or forcing them into some pitch darkness to leave me alone.  Maybe that's why they're avoiding me?

The Troubadour

I know this isn't exactly what you're asking, but just in the interest of demographics and intrigue... I debunk the paranormal as a hobby.  I'm pretty good at it too.  I believe in nothing spiritual, religious or supernatural, and I'm very good at coming up with prosaic explanations for "paranormal phenomena" or sometimes even all-out proving the non-supernatural nature of an event.

I love paranormal stuff!
I enjoy reading up on demonology and watching paranormal shows i even participated in a Ouija board session.
I just find it interesting and entertaining when you got nothing better to do plus it also makes you feel less lonely

Kardrack

Oh, I try to debunk things all the time.  I don't expect anyone to believe me when I claim I have seen something, but I kinda have to believe what I see infront of me.

Maoi Neko

I love faith and spirituality, such beautiful things. The universe is so much stranger than what can be proven.

Lupinrager

I'm very much into the paranormal.
Not into the traditional stuff like spiritualism, I'm interested in the mythical correlation with the paranormal and reality.
Such as the continued link with the supernatural and cryptozoology. Really into Cryptozoology and other supernatural creatures. Stuff like the lochness, Yeti, Mothman aleins, etc.

Unlike a lot of people here, my experience is pretty much second-hand from research and articles on the topic.

Taking a look at the thread, the kind of paranormal apparently mentioned here is closer to the spiritual aspect, so I may be out of place.
Although, if I had a personal experience to share, it'd have ot be that I lived in a 'haunted' house for two years.
We had incidences of unseen voices, whispers, and other occurrences.
Like a bed that gave you nightmares every time you sleep in it.
Voices in the kitchen, calling your name even if you're alone
the traditional unexplained cold spots and chills
a ghostly hand sliding up the stair banisters and an unseen presence.
and apparently instances where I wake up crying at night, pointing at a light that isn't there. Yet strangely I have no memory of these events.
Best part was after moving out, we discover there was a suicide that happened in the place a few years (or was it months) before we moved in

Oh god i love this kinda stuff! Me and a few friends went to Woodlands Asylum before it burned down. We explored every floor and room, including the basement (Which is TOTALLY fucked up o.o) and the attic! 8D

We were thinking of going to the other abandoned asylum in Langley. Never got around to it.

And I know what you mean with the spirit boards. My friends wanted to use one in Woodlands and I freaked out and yelled at them to never use one. xD
I've said and done things I regret here, so I just don't do anything instead.

Hadlock

There is an asylum in Langley? never heard of it. Is as messed up as Woodlands? how long has it been abandoned for?

let me know if/when your going, id love to come with.  we can do EVP sessions
