Don't know how much luck you'll have on $1 for 200 standard cards most sell for $0.25 each and at bulk might be lucky to go $10 for 100-150 cards

I'm basing that offer on sites like http://sales.starcitygames.com/buylist/ - for bulk common/uncommon - 3.00 per 1000 cards. I felt that I was being generous.

Oh, and I've never played EDH, so I can't help with that. Wouldn't mind learning though.

shops are different :P they have a constant influx of cards. players want to get a little something more in return for their cards although i guess it all depends on condition, edition, and repetition of the cards as well

as for EDH its not hard to get into rules are fairly simple and close to the same.
-deck consists of 100 cards. 99 single copies in your library (cant have more than one of the same named card) and 1 champion
-champion is a legendary creature and your deck can only consist of cards in your champions color. ex: Zedruu the Greathearted, 1colorless 1r 1w 1blu, your deck can consist of red white and blue cards (and artifacts)
-mulligan rules are different and better imo called partial paris where you pick which cards you dont want put them to the side and draw one less. ex: start with 7 cards in hand, drop 5 and draw 4. that leaves you with 6, you can repeat this process down to 1 card
-as for combat you start with 40 life, but if you can deal 21 commander damage you can also win.
-you commander sits in the commander slot on the side of the field, it costs his regular mana cost to play him, and if he is removed from the field (aside from to you hand or your deck) he returns to the commander slot and cost an additional 2 colorless more to play for each time he returns to the commander slot

i think that pretty much sums it up, its a fun style of play

there is also planes chase (playing on a global effecting field that can be shifted) and archenemy (everyone vs one player that has extra powers) if you haven't tried them yet they are also great ways to switch it up a bit.

whats really fun is an 3 way EDH, each player has an archenemy deck all while playing planes chase. don't think it can get more randomly fun than that.
feel free to check me out i belong to allot of sites so type my name in or follow a link from here :P http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Ceowolf

1. Well judging from the fact that I haven't gotten any offers yet, you're probably right, so I'll update my offer to $1 per 175 mostly Standard, mostly not basic land cards.

2. If you want to do Commander, I'm game. Let's set up a time or just agrre to do it on game night.

3. Finally changed my Black/Red into my Red/White: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/redwhite-humans-02-12-12-1/ Critique welcomed

RainRat you have an EDH deck! I want to play again next time. I'll bring 5 colour dragons! Rawr! We gotta get a bunch of people for EDH, atleast 4.

Thanks for linking to that Site Rain rat

I've added my WIP deck there as you know I keep making changes to it to make it better

http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/first-golgari-deck-1/

Critiques and card suggestions are most welcome I know it definitely needs 2 more Rancors and 3 champion of Lambholts in there. considering dropping one Akroma's Memorial to Sideboard (I know it has a high cost however if a game should last that long that does allow me to easily make that final push if I can get it into play which is why it is main board or at the very least distract my opponent long enough to get one of my deck strategies into play)

RainRat

I haven't made any golgari so I have no advice there.

Could somebody explain or link to an explanation of the different deck types? I.e. Bant, Jund, RDW. Searching finds example decks but doesn't explain what they mean.

tapped out seems to be tapped out at the moment, sites down.

Does anyone still play at Wally's on Hastings? Wally's my landlord. I've always said I was going to stop in and play but haven't got around to it.

Elnath

Went in to pay rent today. Wally's got packs of Mirage, Revised, The Dark and I think a few other old old sets. Mirage and Dark were $10/Booster. Revised I think was $65/booster.
Just if anyone is feeling nostalgic.

professor whovianart

65.00 per pack?, wow, i used to sell them for 2.50, but of course that was when dual lands were only 10.00 each.

the dangers of buying the early packs (revised and older), is that one could actually look at what the cards are in a pack without actually opening them (no kidding, test me).
you should join the "Ethereal friends of professor whovianart" on facebook, if anything, to find out where i currently am, or will be.

Elnath

Doesn't surprise me. But I wouldn't buy packs for that much, I only ever used cash value as a means of determining trade value. I wouldn't pay much in the way of cash for any magic card, unless I thought it would save me from buying packs upon packs of a set I didn't like in order to find one I card I wanted... Speaking of which, before I go buying more Homelands from the shop, does anyone have a Didgeridoo that's in good shape?

Raikon

Oh Wally's...that brings back good memories. I love that shop, even though it's so small.
Relax, I am a professional.

Zareth

I realize this thread is incredibly old, but I didn't want to put another topic with the same subject matter on here. :p

I'm totally new to MTG, played Duels of the Planeswalkers a bit, but really want to get into the real thing.

I'm going to head to Stronghold Magic on Monday and figure out what kind of deck I want to build and use.

Would anyone be interested in playing some kitchen table matches with a newbie once I get things set up and figured out? Bearing in mind I'll probably have a pretty mediocre deck. X3

RainRat

Sure, come to Tuesday sushi, or come to my Game Night(we try to avoid letting Magic take over, but we do play a bit) and we'll play you.

Cool! I'm not sure if I'd be able to play on Tuesday, but I'll definitely try to make it Thursday. I'm going to head to Stronghold on Monday, probably pick up an event deck, maybe a couple boosters, and go from there.
