Hey guys, I got a $25 Gift certificate for iTunes for Christmas, and I'm tired of just looking at the number. So, I am wanting to buy some new music. But I'm stuck, I have no idea what to get because I have most of the albums of my favourite bands. I listen to mostly independent rock, like modest mouse, or Pride Tiger. But I also really like Ratatat, even though their songs are all techno, also Gorillaz <3 (Might buy Plastic Beach in March), both bands have some really nice songs. I'm also into older bands like Led Zeppelin, Neil Young, and Pink Floyd. My taste even goes into heavier rock, but I can't listen to any metal. Uhh, any suggestions would be great, I've been stuck for about 3 weeks. Oh, and The Tragically hip are good too.

I apologize for any typos in advance, iPod typing <3. (Apple, bleh)

i think you might be able to pre-order the Gorillaz album through iTunes...

Try DeadMau5?
Birthday Massacre?

I dunno.. I like random music like you, it is hard to choose...

I've had a song by Broken Bells stuck in my head for days now - it's an interesting project involving Danger Mouse and the lead singer of indie group The Shins. haven't checked more of their stuff out, but the single, "The High Road," is very catchy and interesting. Their album's out March 9.

You might be into British Sea Power - it's a British (go figure) indie group that has had huge success over there but barely made a dent over here. They're quite good.

I'll try and think of some other good stuff too when I'm more awake...

I suggest Miike Snow. Great band from Sweden, but they sing in English.

Here is the video for their first single.

Does Scissor Sisters count as independent rock? Their music is sort of an odd mishmash of styles.

I really like their "Ta-Dah" album, in any case.
