RainRat started this war, now hes going to pay for it.

i would have been cool with this if he handled it a littler more professionally , but no explanation, nothing to go off of, and nothing said and just "doing it" doesnt help calm the situation at hand, it makes things worse. I am sure you can all agree he didnt handle what he did professionally either, so the main administration should be shot and handed to someone else other than myself or Rainrat.

i myself have not been a great admin or anything, but have simply tried my best to cope with situations, im not going to say im perfect, i have faults like anyone else. i step down and stop arguing this and let the following dispute on its own.

If Rat truely does care about the community he would hand it to someone else other than himself or I.

this can all be agreed to, as well as it makes proper sense in a situation as of this one.

RainRat

I am keeping the board up with me as admin. But the community decides the direction. I am just here as a facilitator to do what you guys want.

You yourself also handled this situation badly, there is alot you could have done to reduce this disaster to the minimum that i would have gladly accepted, But again no proper explanation of the situation or whats going on, the sudden-ness without reasoning. you should accept yourself to stepping down and letting a more suitable person(s) take over. Both you nor i deserve to be administrators nor deserve power.

I uber agree with this route, there should be only one admin to faclitate the direction the community wants to take the forums. Really don't need more than one admin at this point & time. Its like having two or more captains on one ship trying to steer the ship two different directions.
In time we might need a second admin to handle half of the forums but at this time with the small number of members unlike other forums out there, that have member numbers ranging in the 1000's.

Acco

There only needs to be one admin, and maybe a moderator or two. I'm fine with Rat staying as admin, and if he chooses to appoint a few mods, I'll be fine with them too, as long as they're fair with their powers.

Unition

Could you demonstrate why should Rat give up his administrative capabilities?  How has he failed at performing his job as admin?  When a renter is evicted does the landlord need to sell the house?

you're out. thank you for your assistance

my account, my rules

Rino,
First of all that is ONE person.
Second you can't tell all of us no offense when you have said that you are going to take down the forum.
Third this wasn't a random thing there has probably been a lot of thought and time put into Rat's decision to remove ALL of the other mods and admin.

Rat I'm supporting you decision to make yourself the sole admin it's less confusing and makes life easier.

Rino I thank you for all you have done for the forum and just remember "Nothing is permanent in this wicked world - not even our troubles."

I like the forum, I found the mailing list to be very daunting to post on, and the forum we can be selective with what we WANT to read and what we don't but, with the mailing list we get sent EVERYTHING. I have found the forum to be a better information source then the mailing list.

While Rino has certainly helped set up the forum community for BC, there have been a number of questionable management choices from who was appointed to admin/mod to how posts have been modified due to rules that were -hardly- enforced.
Rino I hate to be mean but I agree with is WHOLE HEARTEDLY. You have ignored rules YOU POSTED, you have deleted posts ONLY BECAUSE THEY PROVED YOU WRONG, and YOU have MEAN when dealing with people because of stupid little things that fall in gray areas in the FORUM RULES.

Quote from: Accophox on January 29, 2010, 01:34:32 PMI'll continue to support whatever choice is made as long as it stands in the community's favour -- and that is, as far as I'm concerned, a place to network with other furs around BC in a peaceful and easy manner that's accessible to all that want to.
Acco I agree with you this is the easiest and most accessible format for the furries of BC and those that WANT to connect with us.

This is what Aphinity told me and im following an act on that

ever since the forums launched, there's been an onslaught of very different people into our local community
I mean the less personal interface of it means not everyone knows each other like we used to
it's less of a community and more of a community centre with different rooms
case in point, I had more people ghosting howloween this year than in recorded history, adn they flat out lied to my face about it too
they won't bother reading a heartfelt apology from someone in general forums, or about a movie that everyone went to and enjoyed..
or someone selling something they might want.. unless they spend hours going around and through each topic
personally, the forums are a sign that our community is growing, but it's also a sign that we're separating.
no matter how pretty you make it, it won't change that.

i agree with this and feel like all its doing is tearing us apart into sperate pieces, yes we are changing, but not in a good way, we need to resort to straightening this up, and pull together as a community, this is now the time to act.

Acco

No matter how you look at it, communities will diverge. It's the nature of them. Some of you might remember it -- vaf and vfur on the mailing lists.

Personally, I think it's fine. People move on from group to group. I'm sure that I'd be alienated by some groups of people that I would not have been a few years ago.

So, I'm going to sum it up as such: The forums are a good thing. Some people don't like them, fine. They can create their own community. You can only be so accommodating for everybody. If this is the tipping point, then fine. I think a majority of the furries in Vancouver prefer this over the old mailing list. If you can come up with something that unites everybody and works for everybody... I'll buy you a fleet of drinks.

which we need to rework whats going on here and re-assess the situations open mindedly

Silvermink

Rino, you've run this place like your own clubhouse since day one, and frankly, your attitude has chased people away. I know because I'm one of those people. You've made unilateral decisions, punished people for saying things you didn't like, and made questionable changes and appointments. Your attitude toward running this forum has always been questionable in the professionalism department. I know you don't like to hear this and you're probably sputtering with buts, but I am far from the only person that feels this way.

I for one welcome the change and the move toward mods and administrators appointed as needed.

Vanilla Skunk

I actually agree with Silvermink.

I maintained my friendship with you, Rino, because I am the type of person to separate business from personal.  But quite frankly, I don't agree with the way you've run these forums whatsoever.

I also agree with Acco, where you need to correct yourself before you correct other people, regarding the language rule.  If you don't, you are known as a hypocrite; A very shameful label to place on someone whom is in a position where remaining professional would be the best course of action.

I am not saying these things to be hurtful, but rather as constructive criticism.  If you are going to work with anything social, you need to learn these things anyways, especially if you are in a position of power.  Otherwise, you will be shot down, just like you have last night.

Hate me if you want to.  I can't say that I don't care, but I can say that I would rather you read what I post here with sincerity, rather than disliking my words.

Some Guy

Which is why im taking the lessons learned here and now running www.omanashi.com with pride and democracy, not questioning peoples likes or dislikes but being positive 100% about every situation,

Thank you Felix for telling me this and i agree with you for the constructive crit.

Torwin

I'll take the blame for this one. I recommended the changes to Rat and he agreed with me. We both decided you had to be pulled quickly and without warning before you attempted to sabotage the site for everyone. You went too far, overstepped your boundaries with too many people. I didn't take action until you directly involved me and threatened banning. Bottom line is, Rat owns the forums, he has every right to do what he pleases. Changes had to be made, so they were. Don't blame Rat for this, as it was not his idea, he just performed the action...the messenger if you will. It just took someone to stand up and say something on behalf of the entire community that what you were doing was wrong. All the best with your own forums mate', I see you named it after yourself. Your kind of a big deal eh?

I told you not to open this can of worms.
