I need some help posting an event. it is just a few paragraphs of info, nothing that unusual. A few links using the above link code tags. and a few small images hosted on photo bucket inserted with the picture code tags. this is nothing at all new or unusual and i have been able to post this kind of stuff many times before.

so i have perfected everything and used the preview to make it look just right, simple but organized. But when i go to post it and look on the forms page, it only has the top paragraph, one of my small images and nothing else that was on the topic. is this a glitch? is the site down? is there some new text/character limit or changes i am unaware of? i am at my wits end and have tried about 10 troubleshooting methods to try and make it post correctly. does anyone know what is wrong, how to fix this, or have you also encountered this sort of error before?

Aha!

So you're why I've been spammed with like 10 notifications about new posts, only to find they've vanished. :P

Pro tip: You can edit existing posts!  ^.^  So yeah, repost it up, *leave it alone* (yes, even if it's broken), and the admins can help take a look.  I have a feeling the e-mails I'm getting actually do contain the entire text (they look complete?) so then we can narrow it down to wherever it's breaking.

All you've managed to do is send like 10-15 notifications about basically the same thing to anyone watching the Lower Mainland Events board. ;)

So I'm not an admin, but yes, that post I'm seeing come up is quite large.  I'm guessing you are, indeed, hitting the max post size for SMF here, so yeah, breaking it up into two or three in a row and then editing them as they'll be first in the thread is probably best.

Sometimes I've seen people reply once more at the end, with something like '(reserved for space)' so that they can edit it later and add more info if it turns out they need the extra room beyond their initial post(s).

Quick Google tells me that in SMF, under:
Administration Center - Posts and Topics - Topic Settings

There should be a setting for max post size in SMF.  But an admin (RainRat?) would have to change that if it's an issue.

Post character limit is 20000 characters; if it helps, I could increase it.
