E-Cigs

So I've recently acquired a couple different types of what people call "electronic cigarettes" or "vaporizers" in an attempt to wean myself off the real thing (my cardio exercises have been getting harder and harder). I know a few other furs in the area (and abroad) who use these things, and I'm just experimenting with them to see what I like/don't like about the different types. I figure I'd ask the people of the forums and gather some of your guys' opinions. Do you use any type of vaporizer? What kind do you use? What do you/don't you like about it? Also leaving it open for people to ask questions if you don't know what a vaporizer is, what goes into them, or why people use them.

What I have:
Colibri Nano from ePuffer.ca
What I like about it:

  • Rechargeable pack is pocket-sized and holds 2 batteries and 4 cartridges.
  • The pack will recharge your batteries up to five times before needing to be plugged in (on-the-go charging).
  • The e-cigs themselves are small and will fit like a pencil in your upper ear (I like to stuff it under the band of my hat).
What I don't like about it:

  • Cartridges don't last very long (equivalent of 7 cigarettes) and it's difficult to tell if your cartridge is running out or if the battery needs to be recharged (always swap batt's first to be on the safe side).
  • Batteries don't last long either. I think I get about 30-40 puffs out of it before it needs a recharge. Thankfully, only takes about 10-15 minutes to charge it in the pack.
  • Always having to buy cartridges, which are more expensive than just buying the juice you get for the larger vapes.
  • You don't get as much of a pull off these. Voltage is constant; you can't change it. You only get about 5 seconds of puff before it shuts itself off.

What I have:
SLB eGo-V v2
What I like about it:

  • Really good pull on this thing. Stays on pretty much as long as you hold down the button. Really good flavour intensity and throat hit (the feeling of the vapour going down your windpipe).
  • Battery lasts a good 200 puffs before needing a recharge, and with its passthrough battery, you can still puff while it's charging.
  • You add the juice to the tank yourself, and the tank lasts a very long time. Juice is pretty cheap, and can keep you going for a while before needing to order more.
  • Fully customizable. Each part on the vape can be swapped out for different hardware if it breaks, or if you simply want to try something different, or pimp the thing out.
  • Adjustable voltage allows you to decide how strong your puffs are. The little LCD readout shows you the battery's charge and your voltage (anywhere between 4.0 and 6.0 volts).
  • You can use any kind of e-juice. E-cigs require you to buy the proprietary cartridges; e-juice is pretty much universal and can be ordered off many sites with different flavours and nicotine strength.
What I don't like about it:

  • It's bulky. The length of it is about seven inches and it's about as fat as a roll of pennies. You have to be careful if you put it in your pocket.
  • Caution is required when ordering parts for it, since many sites sell the part, but won't specify which models it can be fitted to. Do your research.
  • You need to hook it up to a cable (USB mini) to charge it, which takes about an hour or so. If you chain smoke and are using this as an alternative, you might want to buy two of them.

Overall, I love my vapes. I can still enjoy the nice parts about smoking without inhaling a shit ton of chemicals (granted, health organizations haven't yet been able to study the adverse effects of vaporizing, as I'm sure there are some). The only thing that sucks about it, is that I end up vaping MORE because I can vape indoors. I try to keep the habit of going for a break and taking it outside to deter myself from just sitting here, puffing away on these things all day.

I had the XHale system, and used it for a while to fairly good results. Unfortunately, severe personal stress and issues at work, as well as my system failing due to manufacturer's flaws cause me to switch back to real cigarettes.

What I liked; The size of the e-cig was good, only slightly larger than that of a normal cigarette. The draw is good, good mouth feel, good lung feel, good flavor. I appreciated the red light-up tip, rather than the blue one, which adds to the realism of it for me. The battery charged fairly quickly, and held a charge for a decent amount of time. The flavor in the cartomizer lasted about as long as 3 or 4 packages of smokes.

What I couldn't stand; My cartomizers started leaking glycerine into my mouth while I was smoking them, which is incredibly unappealing. Two of my cartidges also failed somehow, resulting in a super chemical taste long before the flavor should have run out.

I have a disposable e-cig right now that I have yet to try, and am holding on to it for when I feel like I am ready to take another crack at cutting down on how much I smoke.
I live in a world of fantasy.

Sadly I don't think I can help. I have the NV as you know. They last a really really long time though it seems. But it could be because of the lack of nicotine in it. Proud of you for trying to stop smokin!
