Equines reign supreme?

So I have noticed that alot of furs are making equine characters because of the My Little Pony craze, and it makes me wonder.... do equines reign supreme? Or is this just a fad that's just going to die off? Being a mostly equine-cetacean fur since the age of 13, I have always been a fan of MLP and have always tried doodling my fursona(s) as a My Little Pony type things just for fun for many years. But I find the huge amounts of equine-based characters to be a bit overwhelming now. Do any other fellow equines feel uncomfortable with this as much as I am? Or does it make you feel more comfortable, now that there are others who are showing an appreciation for horse-like creatures like ourselves?

To come up with a truly unique fursona is a tough task especially if you are young. Which is why children usually bond with a few common species such as equines, canines, and lagomorphs. I do find it a tad overwhelming how many wolf fursonas are out there which kind of puts a cap on what you can do with your character as so much has already been done
I've always been told to never look a life behind a window to go outside and join the world, but what about the world behind that window makes the outside so much better?

To be honest, I'll never get the MLP craze myself. Having said that, fan art and the (insert franchise here not just MLP) fandom usually serves as a stepping stone for trends.

I don't really think of MLP characters as that related to equine characters in general, I guess.

I have made ponified version of myself, but I am a dragon till the end. While I know how much people love MLP beyond the fad aspect, I do believe the pony fursonas are just a bit of a passing fad that will slowly die off once everyone's worked it outta their system.

I love Horse characters and i cant say "Equines" for the life of me, and i dont get the MLP thing eather but i think it will slowly go away at a frozen snails pace but it'll go away.
No wait i totaly do!

Have you seen what my fursona looks like? She's gone through alot of design changes, but she has always remained with the same species/body type. I can't really say I am strictly equine. But It's definitely the most dominant in my fursona. Not too many people I see out there with something as unique as my fursona unless it's Neopets fanart of a peophin, which is something I am definitely not.

I have a ponysona myself, but it's a G4-ized version of a character I made for My Little Pony MUSH years ago. I mostly use him in the context of pony fandom, though I have worn my Tequila Sunrise badge at a couple of furry cons.

The MLP/Equine thing is just a fad. It won't entirely die away but it'll subside. Yay! Feral Characters in a TV show! Furries dig that stuff, so it boomed. I can't say the show is terrible either. The episode I watched had music, horror, action, suspence, twists. It seemed well plotted. The concept of the ponysona is fairly basic aswell. Not to hard to recognizably draw and you get to add a cool personal stamp to each one.

I have a zebra character but he was mostly driven by needing a deus ex moderator character in my furry wrestling roleplay group... (when the heavyweight champ has pissed everyone else off so they won't RP with them, someone needs to do *something*... an overmuscled zebra fit the bill. =P )

I find that 90% of the time people already have a role-play persona of their own, and the only relation to MLP it ever enjoys is brief period the owner chooses to "pony-ize" that character. Now, for those who don't already have a role-play persona, what I see mostly is them making a pony persona to show how much they love the show.

IMHO, I don't think liking horses has anything to do with it. I'd agree that was the case if instead of ponies we started seeing a lot more Gideon making the rounds. Y'all dun know what I meaned! :birdy:

Well, I do remember that my interests in horses has to do with cars, like Ferrari and Porsche, not the Mustang though, apologies in advance.

Hm...you're probably right about the MLP part, it's a fad that might last, give or take a year, before folks look towards more new trends and memes to sate their appetites before moving beyond role playing as ponies and horses.
