Digital Painting tips for Beginers

Hit there, I am just starting out with Digital painting and I was wondering if anyone had any tips.
:) I have photoshop CS3. Is there a particular brush I should have or be using?  Anyways, Thanks for reading.

There really isnt any certain brushes to use. It depends on you and what you like. Experiment with brushes you have, heck, try making some of your own :3
When i digitally paint, and by this i meant stuff without lineart, i just go with my gut feeling on most everything. Remember, regardless of traditional or digital media, you can always start over!

I do have a really cool tutorial on painting from the background up to the front. I'll add it once i find it. I have to see if the user still has it online or not.

EDIT: Tutorial shows how the artist paints digitally, using a traditional sketch. I always found her style to be pretty awesome. Things just POP :3

But theres tons of tutorials about with tips and tricks. It really all depends on what kind of painting style you want to accomplish.
