DNS issues

Telus, Wind and Google's DNS is fubar'd and has the wrong IP for the forums.

http://centralops.net/ spits out the IP of 70.84.161.11 which is different from the real IP of 46.4.24.15

I had to manually set my hosts file in order to connect.

It seems whatever Opera Mobile uses for a DNS has the same issue.

Fido, which uses the Rogers DNS servers is also having the same issue.

It works fine on Shaw though.

What are the shaw DNS servers you are using right now?

Our network (Ravenwood and I was set for google DNS ( ip 8.8.8.8 ) even though we use the shaw network..

Primary DNS Server :64.59.144.16
Secondary DNS Server :64.59.144.17

I actually had this problem a day ago, and I asked my friend to help me with it.
He basically told me to do the following, and it worked.

Go to Control Panel
Go to Network Connections
Double-click Local Area Connection
Click on Properties
Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
Click on Properties
Down at the bottom where the DNS Server Addresses are, if it's optioned as:

"Use the following DNS server addresses"

Change it to:

"Obtain DNS server address automatically"

Then click okay.

After you've done that, the forums should work again. It worked for me, I'm sure it will work for everyone else who get's this problem. :) :thumbs:

I wouldn't use Shaw's DNS. It just redirects bad URLs to ad-riddled pages promoting their service.

I always use Google Public DNS, so I spoke to the admin of the provider of this site via e-mail and a day later it got fixed.

If you've got a thirst for DNS speed though, There's a DNS Benchmark that will help you decide the fastest DNS in your area that doesn't redirect you for wrong URLs.

For me, it's SFU's DNS servers, but I still use Google since it's truly public.
