Oh, the perked interest to singles.. yesh.. Well I am single and dating is frankly fun and a good way to get to know someone ^.^

So non dating thread has become dating now?

Also it seems that a fair lot of furs won't know what to do with this new "singles thread". Quite enough confusion already it would seem. Looks like star would be the only one who knows what it would be used for.

If you want to make a Singles Thread, go ahead and make one on the General Board, you don't even have to ask. If you were wondering if we'll make a Board for singles, (on the level of Buy/Sell/Trade or Introductions), the answer is no.

If you make one on the general board, my suggestion is to make sure the first post in the thread makes the purpose clear. Also, there's not any age verification on the board, so the thread has to be appropriate (I don't think this is a problem for the thread as originally proposed, just a reminder). This is a requirement, not a request.

I'm also closing the Poll board. If you want to make a poll on the General Board or other appropriate board, you're still welcome to.

As a member of a number of different forums, and having moderated a number of them in the past, one of the most common things that a dating site advertisement bot will do is...

Im looking for  a   male or female or both  for  friendship and possably permant mate ship.

Maybe not in those exact words, but it does raise a lot of hackles.  I would suggest never mentioning on your first post that you are looking for a mate.  It makes you sound desperate, and can lower people's opinion of you.

Personally I don't care, and I'm glad our community is a bit more welcoming and tolerant than some of the others, but I will say that the behavior you described of albertafurries was uncalled for.  I'm tempted to sign up there now just to look at the thread...

Anyone posting that they want "friends plus more" is asking for trouble if it was their first post.  It might be how you feel, but it's also presumptuous to assume that people look to that forum as a dating site.  I mean, good for you for being open with your sexuality and relationships, but perhaps others don't use the site for that and would rather not see it?

I don't know, I'm just offering my opinion.

I've seen a few forums that state in their rules that they severely frown on the use of their forum as a dating site.

Especially with forums that have teenagers and whatnot visiting, it is especially a bad idea, from a moderator's perspective, to allow one on one meetups.  Not only can the site get in trouble, but something could happen to said teenager without street smarts.

Oh no...that place is baaaad.  Be careful what you ask for is all I can say. There are some really weird and screwed up furs out there that want nothing but to get laid and will say just what you want to hear...be VERY careful.  It's not just on Pounced but on fur communiutes as well.  There are many wolves in sheep's clothing. >:(
