VancouFUR 2019 Chair - Request for Nominations

The BCAEA Board of Directors is working to ensure that the management of VancouFur is as efficient and effective as possible. One area in which we've been exploring some options to improve efficiency is the year-to-year transition of power between each year's Chair and executive. We have decided that we can improve this flow by moving our search for each year's Chair up and allow a longer timeframe for the Chairs to work together and advance the next year's event.

Therefore, we are inviting submission of nominations for the position of VancouFur Chair for the 2019 convention.

Each year, the Board selects a Chair who acts as the chief executive of the convention and provides the top tier of leadership and decision-making for the committee that organizes and hosts VancouFur. This position calls for a range of skills and abilities. Ideally, a good candidate would be someone who can bring great organizational skills to the table, along with great ideas to expand and improve the convention. The ability to provide encouragement and motivation to the staff is also beneficial. Some business knowledge - management, budgeting and similar - would be a plus as well.

Nominees for Chair are not required to have been a staff member for VancouFur to be considered, but experience with conventions - as a volunteer, staff member or executive - is certainly an asset.

Nominations are now open, and will be accepted through Friday, August 25, 2017 at 11:59 pm. All nominees will be contacted to confirm their acceptance, and all those who accept will be considered for the position by the Board of Directors. The new Chair will be introduced publicly at the closing ceremonies of VancouFur 2018.
