After having a great time at Vancoufur, I thought I should finally introduce myself here and try to get involved in more local events.  My wife (Karn Dragon) and I moved here from the States about a year and half ago.  I've been around some corners of the online community for over a decade now (not necessarily with the same name).  I have been to small coffee meets for years in previous places of residence and even got roped into helping run some BBQs once upon a time.  But we got lazy about finding new events after moving until we ended up going to what was our first con this last weekend.  The con has made me want to get into fursuiting, and revitalized Karn's interest in creating art, e.g. the con badges I cropped my avatar from.

Considering the positive experience I had at Vancoufur and next year's theme, it probably wouldn't take much to draft me into volunteer work... a couple decades of work as an experimental physicist has let me pick up a fair bit of experience with tools, machining (with access to various equipment), electronics, computers, manual labor, and complaining about manual labor.  I used to be involved in production of science stage shows, varying from educational to just loud for the sake of fun, as telling an audience to cover their ears should be a sign of good entertainment.
