Soft chatter and the smell of alien drinks filled the small cafee. A tall felinoid sat at one of the tables, staring into his coffee mug. The human girl at the other side of the table studdied him intently, hoping to gain some insight from his silent exterrior. Finally she game up and asked
" Hey Resh, why don't you ever talk about your home? I know you lived in an orphanage but... You must know about your homeworld right?"
Resh sighed and spoke softly, not looking up from his steaming drink
"let me tell you  a story of a world far away". Closing his eyes he began," There was once a world named Chaero, a world where the people lived free; hunting and surviving in the wilderness as they pleased. It was the night of the festive of moons...

I stood proud, my long feline tail intertwined with my fiancee' Sunbeam's; the blue paint on her right side matched the interlocking pattern that covered my tiger striped fur on my left. As we stood side by side on the wooden platform, our friends and family raised their cups to cheer for us, i grinned and nuzzled her. "hehemm, Rushlight, not yet, we'll have all night after this" she stood on her toes to whisper back into my ear. before i could make any kind of smart remark, Stifftail, the chieftain  and Sunbeams father, walked up to the podium. We stepped together, Sunbeam and I, making the painted patterns on out fur interlock; ready for her father to make his matrimonial words.

Stiftail opened his mouth, and as if on cue, a great red and black wound opened up in the sky, shooting fire and oblong black shapes like a reverse volcano. The crowd in front of us stared up in awe, tails dropping and ears swivelling straight up, listening and wondering at the black shapes drawing closer. The question of ...intent... was soon answered however, as beams or blue lightning projected from their surface, sending the forest up in smoky flames.

People screamed and ran, in circles really because there was no where to run to. I ...i just stood beside Sunbeam and stared in the apocalyptic sky. The black objects were a lot closer now, looking like metal rocks of the most peculiar shape. The air shook around them with the force of nothing known and for the first time in my life.. i was... scared.

I held my fiancee''s Paw tightly, my breath held in the same way while the objects landed, and opened. Green skinned men came out; furless except for the tuft of white on their heads, and a covering of the same black metal-rock that covered their ships also covered their bodies. They each grabbed some object from their waist, then all hell broke loose. The same blue lightning jumped from their hands, burning and incinerating the people; They didn't even care, they just killed at random.

Sighting, i let go of my lovers hand and looked her in the eyes, whispering "Good bye Sunbeam. You know my title, you know what I have to do". I stepped away from her, out tails uncurling. As i drew my swords and broke into a jog, i could hear her cry behind me "Rushlight!...Nooohoo...!". I had my duty as the Tribes Lead hunter and warrior, so i didn't look back. instead i jumped blindly into the fray of death before me. The swords i held in my hands were said to have come from the core of the fabled 'Journey ship' and had some magic to them; Perhaps they did i though, as they reflected the killing beams these green monsters used. I charged the first, cutting him clean in half, and liberating the second ones body of its head. Their orange blood spilled on me, a token of my good deeds as i continued to fight through the slaughter before me.

There were sparkles here and there, and the bodies of some of my fallen brothers and sisters disappeared seemingly into thin air with nothing but bright light and a high pitched whine to show for it. Fighting beyond rage now, I took another one, and another, my fur drenched with hot orange blood. I swung at random to my right, hitting one in the gut, then spun to my left with a powerful chop, cutting the monster right in two. Ten, Twenty, fallen before me, but they kept coming. It was hopeless... a sharp pain hit my between my sounders and i went numb... limp.. and the world went dark.

I awoke in a cage... a cell. Through the darkness i could see into the cages around me... but... none of them held a Chaeroan, i was alone.

I sat for what might have been days on the cold metal floor tiles, fed a sloppy gruel every now and then. One fateful day.. or night, i wasn't sure anymore at that point, they brought her in. Sunbeam, held up by one of the black armoured monsters was crying, her battered body obviously suffering from starvation, and Cloudshape knows what else they had done to her. One of the two produced a pair of swords... my swords, and drew them high and... he killed her brutally, in front of me.

i closed my eyes and layed my paw like hands on the cages bars, griting my teath in a vain attempt to retain my sanity... but something snapped. With strength i never knew i possessed, fuelled by mad rage, i tore a bar out of my cage and stabbed it through the first guards gut; pinning his worthless form to the wall. With a move just as swift i pounced on the second guard, breaking his neck before he could even reach from his gun. Slowly i reached down for my blood stained weapons, whispering a prayer for my dead beloved before my rage returned propelling me down the corridor in search of more of these monsters to kill.

Ear splitting sirens sang as I ran the corner, my blade sliding slick through another's chest, then freeing one more of its head. I charges indiscriminately, not caring who i killed as long as it was one of there green skinned beasts. The symbols on the metal doors meant nothing to me as i tore through, or busted them out of my way.

My claws dug into the sealing membrane of another door; mussels rippling as i tore it open. The room before me was filled with flashing light and... not green people? No, the room before me was filled with slim beings, all with varying hair and skin colours, wearing colourful uniforms. my own surprise caused me to drop my guard, giving one of them time to draw one of their own lightning guns. The weapons muzzle flashed and the world became white while i fell into darkness."

Resh shifted and shifted his grim look into a smile, "Turns out those people were Earth's military, they were boarding an Orion pirate vessel that had been working for one for one of the emipres". Sighing, he relaxed back into his chair, " from then on i was raised in a human orphanage, went to school, and carried on with my life... and that's my story, that's why i can never go home".
I hate being human, I hate being alone, but I scare off or pushy away anyone who cares or understands.
