Lest We Forget.

Anyone have any stories of their own? This day has been intriguing me with stories... makes me even more proud.
I am but a blade in the crowd.

I have seen what comes of those who raise themselves above others.

I used to work as a security for Genesis Security back in 2005. I remember I did a job site at the legion where they were honouring a WWI veteran. It was interesting to be surrounded by many serviceman that were all there to pay their respects. Smokey Smith was the last living WWI vet who held a Victoria Cross. I overheard his feats included going up alone against an enemy tank with nothing but a machine gun and a PIAT and drove two tanks off.

I remember guarding those canadian medals during the graveyard shift. It was a great honour for such a simple babysitting job

That is really awesome! Thank you for sharing such a story. ^^ I can only imagine the honor that you felt.

Interesting how subliminal this holiday comes across taking place in the middle of the week.
Past year at a forum I was asked to make a statement about remembrance day. The account of an elderly relative came to mind whose husband died in the last world war. To this day she continues to receive well needed compensation and support from the government whose husband died fighting for a good cause.
