Our host, critter.net had a massive drive failure, and their backups were unusable. Follow @critternet on Twitter for details. https://twitter.com/critternet

Everything on the board would have been lost, except that I manually downloaded the forum database two months ago.

The server was rebuilt, and the forum software was reinstalled. Frysco deserves credit for doing the heavy lifting here.

Some of you saw a skeleton forum that was overrun by spambots during this period. (Now you know why there is a manual approval process for new accounts)

Then the database was reapplied to the forum. This means everything is how it was two months ago. If you made your account within the last two months, you'll have to recreate it. If you've changed your password, it'll be what it was two months ago. Let me know if you need any help recovering your account.

I'll be cleaning old events up shortly. It'll help if you post in the thread of any events that were cancelled/or are over. There's no rule against posting to an Event Archive thread, in case you want to post your memory of an event or something like that.

Purr yes it has come with such a relief.. and a shock it could all go away so fast, but hope that we were able to get it back.

One thing I notice, I usually type in "bcfurries.com" directly or it is the first address my browser snaps to, but it leads to the 404 page and does not direct to the /forum/ subfolder as before.

http://bcfurries.com/

Also.. is there a plan to back up more often ? How hard would that be to do ? It would be horrible to just run in to this mistake again..

That is now fixed.

The backups that this site was restored from was a set that RainRat had taken a couple of months ago. There are backups that were meant to be running on the server prior to this, but they had failed in a not-very-detectable way. That particular problem should also be fixed now.

I'm certainly glad to see this site coming back to it's former self. It's saddening when technology just decides to stop working the way it's supposed to. hopefully the backups for next time if it does happen again do function so that we don't have to rely on an older one but it's all working now so yay

A big thank you is in order to those in the process of restoring the site so Thank yous!

A little side note: I noticed since the forums has been brought back, the link to 'previous postings' seems to be missing. Basically it was the one where you could view postings in order of when they were made, from the newest to older.

RainRat

Yeah, there's several features that need to be restored. Will work on it when there's time.

Thanks for getting the site back up and running! :3

Frysco found a file backup from January 2013. I've just restored your profile pictures to how they were in Jan 2013.

Whew excellent.. I see my profile is back! Thank you so much Frysco for really getting a hold of the problem with what little you had..

What do you mean of profile pictures though, mrr? It seems others are the same, and profile gallery photos are not there, or will it take time to show up?

Ok, I've restored the profile pictures to their proper place as well. Anything that still isn't there, is probably something that was from after Jan 2013, but let me know if anything previous seems missing.
