1: What is your fursona, and why/how did you end up choosing it?
2: For a new poser such as myself, what are good things to participate in around the furry community?

1. My current fursona is a pomwolf. I have went on and about with several different alterations to my fursona over the span of 5-6 years. I have had a fascination with dogs and wolves ever since I was a kid. In fact I have thought of myself as a werewolf, though as I grew older, I realized I'm just way too urbane to have a pure bred wolf as a fursona. I went from being a werewolf to a wolf, then from a wolf to a wolf-sled dog hybrid. As I am not that big in my stature, I decided to alter my fursona yet again a couple of months ago so I'm a pomeranian-wolf cross. The wolf part of me have been decreased over time, but I'll still be more or less a wolfdog. I can be quite vocal - yapping about things - hence its fit with my personality.

2. For the record, check the events board. Attend the weekly sushi dinner every Tuesday night. And definitely attend Howloween and Vancouver's furry convention - VancouFUR.
Yipper yapper yip yap!
Living above the influence and proud.

1: What is your fursona, and why/how did you end up choosing it?

Years and years ago I reached a point in my youth where one tends to get obsessed with a particular thing, some kids like model cars and go nuts, some like space and get all crazy about spaceships and planets. For me it was Dragons, I adored them and admired what they represented because it seemed so powerful yet majestic. I use to affectionately draw a red dragon over and over during this time, he was cocky, strong willed and completley devious, someone who just liked to live. A deeper curiosity lead me to finding some Otherkin communities full of others who had very similar feelings, a strong sense of kinship towards dragons, it was like looking in a mirror almost. When those two elements came together I realized what I was drawing was this "Ideal me" A dragon bodied, more confident and stronger standing version of myself and everything I wanted to be but was too shy back then to even dare think of. From that point I took on the identity as my own, as who I am in my heart and soul and since then have been 12 years and going identifying as a dragon at my core and finding new ways to explore this identity. ^.=.^

Go out and post in any topic or place you think you have something to contribute or say. Make your own topics even, to be honest for a first time poster, this topic you made here deserves a gold-star case many are never so bold when they first arrive, I respect that. :) There are even group chats on Skype and many many meets all over the place depending on your location. Really its just all about getting out there and taking an active part in things. ^^
