Well as I think I mentioned in my intro post I'm currently living in Ontario (Barrie actually) and am looking to relocate my ass out west. Currently I'm operating on the assumption it's just gonna be me but I might have my sister and her very good friend coming along too. Either way my lease here is up at the start of March so that's when I'm shooting for.

Saving up some money now, trying to get my resume in order to start applying for some work... and looking to make connections in the area most importantly, and hopefully get a place lined up and some meet some people I can chill with!
Bit about me; Going to be 20 on March the 8th, I love music, I like art, not a big watcher of TV too much but i love comic books, I like Fallout and Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Tool... that sums me up nicely I guess. x3 I'm not super outgoing or anything, actually I'm a bit of a recluse currently because I'm not very fond of my surroundings. I won't lie, I'm a little bit of a dick sometimes, but generally people seems to like me despite that.

In the area of employment, my best bet right now is what I'm going here: CSR on the phone for a cable company. I've got some solid experience and I'm damn good at it(got a voice for phone, yes indeed!) only drawback being office jobs make me crazy in the sanity gland. Still though, if anyone knows any leads on call center jobs that aren't sales oriented and that are with really good companies I'd appreciate a heads up.
Beyond that I'm very open for work, I do prefer pretty physically involved stuff, and I am great with customer although I'd rather not be dealing with the public directly if i can help it.

I was looking at settling probably somewhere nearby to Vanc, so Surrey was looking really attractive, plus it gets bonus points as I have a friend from here who did the move a year ago or so, and it's closer to the border which is another plus. I have also looked a liiittle bit at Burnaby but not as much. Anyone have any thoughts to throw in here?

Basically if anyone has suggestions, warnings, a helping hand to lend job-wise or living space-wise, or just lives in the area and wants to chat, send me a message!

I'll probably edit this a bit as stuff happens. Also I wasn't sure it this was quite the right forum, or if maybe Help and Advice would be more fitting.

I dunno about places on the mainland that are hiring, but there is a call center here in Nanaimo that is always hiring. I think they will hire anyone that applies and knows even a little about computers. When I worked there, they had two sides. One was for an american phone company and the other was for MSN tech support. I am not sure what is going on in there now, but I think there is cell phone activations at least. There is also a Shaw call center here that looks for people now and then.

Anyway, hope your move out here to BC goes smoothly. :)

I dunno if I can help ... but I am an apartment building manager here in Surrey. My suites are CLEAN (no bugs) and convenient (10 minute walk to Skytrain) ...depending on how many of you there are, my one bedrooms start at only $695, two bedrooms start at $860 ... including heat and hot water. Its fairly reasonable for the area. I would love to welcome other furs to the building as I am kinda new at this fur thing myself and would love to hang out with others. I dunno what my vacancies are gonna be like in March, but if you are interested, we can get the application stuff done now so you could get first pick of whatever comes up at that time.
As far as call centre jobs, I know Shaw is always hiring and they are right on the Skytrain route ... so would be convenient from here. You may wanna try Coast Mountain Bus / Translink as well ... I know they have a fairly busy call centre - one skytrain stop from here. Just a few ideas.
Lemme know ...

Hey there, Oly;

I'm not sure if you're still looking for a place, and work, but I'm about to post about an opportunity in the Peace region.  Feel free to let me know if you're interested.  It'll be in this forum near the top.

Cheers;
