[my newbie butt posted this in the wrong topic the first time my bad//]

Hello guys! I love all forms of crafting projects and art things and would really like to take on the challenge of making a fursuit head of my sona!  :gay:
I have a basic idea of the supplies I need but wanted to know where would recommended places be to purchase and look for the needed supplies! [craft foam / other foam, fur fabric/material, resin, mesh, balaclava, ect.] I've looked over a few other posts in this board but still needed some feedback.

Also if anyone has any helpful tips for a first time fursuit maker those would be hugely appreciated also!
I'm hoping to at least make my head and tail for Vancoufur this march and might start taking local commissions if I'm confident enough with it and create a nice enough head.

Thanks so much for your help guys, any suggestions and comments are super helpful!

Walmart has some good Foam at good prices, for fabric and fur you should go to Fabricana, and yeah x3

Yeah. I've found Dressew to have a wider selection of fur.

Balaclava, winters coming up, an Army and Navy should have them. Look in the work gear section, not the winter apparel.

For mesh. There's something I've been wondering about experimenting with. At Dollarama, they sell a mesh to cover your house gutters, comes in a ~6'' x 120'' roll. Seems really pliable and resilient, and doesn't seem to snap apart like the Cross Stitching mesh you get from Wal-Mart.
But the white plastic mesh most people use is from Wall-Mart, if you're looking for that specific type.

Tip for getting into making fursuits: YouTube some time lapse fursuit builds. Even if you don't use the techniques in the videos, it'll give you a better understanding of what's out there.

Also Spandex-Polyester and Lycra, is usually specifically made to be a light weight garment that traps in heat and moisture. For bikers and triathlon runners, to conserve body heat, so they're not wasting energy to produce heat while traveling through high mountains.
Polyester is a wicking material, that doesn't aerate through its self very well, while it's wet.

I'm good at sculpting foam heads but eyes nose and fur is not my strong side. I'm looking for someone to work with to make heads and sell them

You could try a guy locally named ZackFox. He's just starting in the fursuit business as well. Good potential to collaborate with him.
