Alrighty so it's pretty much a given that we are all animal people... if not you are in the wrong fourms lol. Just wanted to know what kind of pets everyone has. Perfect place to talk about our lovely critters!
I have a large animal family lol. Including 2 ball pythons, a corn snake, a taiwanese beauty snake, a veiled chameleon, a panther chameleon, 2 crested geckos, and my kitty, Myla the Sphinx
While I technically do not have any pets of my own I live with a large number of animals all of which are my room-mates. The zoo-mates: A Miniature Dachshund(Female), a Jack Russell Terrier(Female), a Australian Kelpie(Male), Black Lab Mix(Female), and a Shih Tzu/Cairn Terrier(Female), a Polydactl Diluted Calico(Female), a Orange Mackerel Tabby(Male) and one albino boa constricter(Male).
A bit of a note: the majority of these animals are rescue animals. It's kind of our thing here. lol
I have three dogs and a cat. They are a border collie, Shetland sheep dog, and a boxer. and the cat is a tuxedo cat.
My pup is a mini Australian shepherd and my pride-sister is a bobtailed barn cat.
I'm sure most folks here have a companion or two if they are capable. Sure to see some exotic types
Just a grey cat and around 10 zebra finches...
Awee.. most of mine are rescues as well! The Veiled chameleon (Pascal), both ball pythons, one of my crested geckos has a deformity (stitch) and my kitty was given to me after her breeder no longer had use for her. She was 2 and had 3 litters of kittens before I got her. Happily spayed and the center of my attention now lol!
I got no pets but if I had the area, I'd want a Pygmy Goat.
Dervacor and I have 2 adorable ferrets. They're both boys named, Fizz and Twitch after a couple of our favorite LoL champions. :3 They're messy as all hell, but super cuddly and sweet. Love being held.
I don't technically have any pets of my own yet(expect my beta fish Zoja) due to still living at home
However I live with two cats, one short haired named Charle and one long haired(the long haired is actually the grandparents that we've been petsitting for over 2 months now-therefore now our cat)
And the two burmese/malamute dogs named Ohgrr and Cooper
When I move out in a few months one of the first things I'm doing is getting my own cat and a snake of some kind. Actually I want tons of reptiles, but I'm keeping it to one for the apartment's sake..and my roommate as well..
What do you guys get, from owning 'pets'?

I don't really get the use of quotes here. Is this really an unfathomable thing to you, or is there some other meaning to the question?
I own a cat myself.

Companionship for the most part. Pets are really interesting creatures and benefit greatly from human interaction.
I don't own any animals. They are not pets, but my family. My children, my babies. I would do anything and everything for them.
I have two cats - Samson and Blossom
I have two Parrots - (Ko)Haku and Blaze
I have four Rats - Speedy, Stormy (I didn't name them), Shire and V
Pharaoh has one rat with Shire and V - Snow
Samson is turning 10 in March and Blossom turns 4 in March. Haku and Blaze are turning 6 & 7. Speedy and Stormy are a year and four months. Shire is a year and a month, Snow is a year next month, and V is a year in May.
I have never claimed to own any of them. They came into my life to be members of my family. We help each other - I have over three different Anxiety Disorders - and without them I would be a mess. I help them by being the best mommy I can be. To keep them happy, healthy, and active. Samson still plays like he's a kitten, and always wants in his Mommy's lap. He will spend over twelve hours sleeping in my lap at a time sometimes (if I am sleeping or making tails or something that doesn't require me to move for so long.) To Blossom I am her toy mouse thrower and friend. I chase her around the house, then run away and she will chase me. Sometimes grabbing my ankles, sometimes beating me to where I'm going, or sometimes stopping me running so I will pick her up because she loves uppies. I am her belly rubber, if she wants her tummy rubbed she will sit on my hand until I give her attention. Both my cats come to me when they, or I, are stressed. When I'm ill both of them stay close to make sure I'm okay. They don't leave me alone at all either. When they aren't well I keep them near me and take care of them until they are better.
My rats are smart and cuddly and sweet and we give each other the affections we both need. V loves to go for walks with me outside, while the other rats like to run around and let my hand chase them, and turn them over and tickle their little tummies. Then they chase my hand and then I chase them again with my hand. They love play time with me and I can always tell when they want me to come play with them.
My birds (one of them at least) are smart and cuddly. While one has a mental disorder, and hard to know what he wants, the other is super sweet and she loves attention, cuddles, rubs, and help with her pinfeathers when she molts. Haku loves attention of any sort, and has a serious screaming problem that even I cannot train him to break out of. (Both a vet and a professional parrot trainer diagnosed Haku with a mental disorder that is rare, but he displays all the signs - but it makes him super cute sometimes so the screaming is forgivable X3). Blaze loves to learn tricks, and loves to nuzzle with me for hours. She calms me down when I am having a bad attack because I have to be so gentle with her it helps me relax by body a little.
Each of my babies is special, have their own personalities, and their own stubborn ways. I love them all. They are not pets. I would never call them a pet - they are my loving family and they care about me and show me that every day, and I love and care about them.
In my house there is,
One rabbit, Gokart. Rules everything, king of the house and as such has imposed a %50 banana tax. (favourite food I always share.)
One cat, Squeak. Co-second in command and designated pest control.
One dog, Nika. Scared of all other animals, was born deaf and so is very well trained to listen to sign language.
One bearded dragon, Mushu. Co-second in command, loves silk worms, meal worms and having a large photograph of Sun Peaks hanging in the back of her habitat.
One turtle, Tootlez. Thinks he's a dog, ate all of his fishy friends.
One goldfish, Fred. Bites and makes me not believe that goldfish have a short memory span.
If anything they own me and are all spoiled rotten. Especially Gokart.

I know they don't but a friend always tells me its impossible to teach a goldfish things because of this supposed 'memory shortage', so it sometimes screws me up.

There are lots of youtube videos of trained goldfish. And a whole episode of MythBusters dedicated to busting the myth and they ended up with a goldfish that went through hoops. And I think another that "plays" soccer - or the ladder one could be from just a YT video I can't remember.
I have a crested eyelash gecko named Isaac. He grew up to be a heel, just like me. :(
