: Interest check - Sony Vaio FW-140D and Canon Powershot A75
: Zephyron August 28, 2009, 09:13:41 -06:00
Just an interest check to see if anyone may want this upgraded Sony Vaio VGN-FW-140D.
Looking for CAD$800, or perhaps best offer, but no lowballers.

Reason why I am selling it at this price is due to more recent upgrades:
- 4GB Kingston PC2-6400 DDR2 SDRAM (800MHz)
- 320GB Seagate 7200.3 HDD (90MB/s transfer speeds w/ 15-18ms seek times)

Machine is in very good condition, but I just need to fuel the funds needed to get a desktop, or a mobile workstation instead.
I need that extra bit of power to push my real-time Photoshop interaction and 3D CAD (Maya, XSI) rendering speeds.

Cosmetic flaws include slight blemish on the palmrests, a common flaw of the FW family of Vaios.

The important specs are as follows:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 @ 2.26GHz
FSB: 1066MHz
RAM: 4GB DDR2 SDRAM @ 800MHz, Dual Channel Mode <--- Originally 3GB DDR2 SD RAM, Single Channel Mode
HDD: 320 GB Seagate 7200.3 HDD @ 7200RPM <------------- Originally Toshiba 250GB MK2546 @ 5400RPM
OS: Windows Vista 64-bit version*
*(installed over the original 32-bit version with lots of bloatware, and streamlined the OS overall so the computer runs responsively)
-----
-----
GPU: ATI Radeon HD3470 w/ 256MB Dedicated Video RAM
Screen Resolution: 1600x900 at a 16.4" width (HD+ Resolution)*
Display Ratio: 16:9

*Note: Laptops with 15.4 inch screens (16:10 display ratio) are usually 1280x800 or 1440x900, so this screen resolution is finer than most, save for the 16 inch 16:9 laptops that have FHD 1920x1080 resolutions.

Canon powershot A75 Camera, looking for $30.

An old 3.2 megapixel camera that has an extensive range of manual options.

Steve's Digicams has a review that probably describes it better than what I can: http://www.steves-digicams.com/camera-reviews/canon/powershot-a75/canon-powershot-a75-review.html (http://www.steves-digicams.com/camera-reviews/canon/powershot-a75/canon-powershot-a75-review.html)

Very good picture image quality.

Note that its primary flaw, is that it cannot record video for more than 30 seconds (in QVGA mode), and its recording rate is 15 FPS. At VGA (640x480) mode, it cannot record for longer than 30 seconds.
