Got a question for you all. Seems a lot lately I'm under fire for Minx being too scary or frightening. People seem to have this idea that all furries are supposed to be cute bunny rabbits or foxes. Its actually starting to get to me a little. I paid quite a bit for her, and she is my Muse and a work of art, yet people seem to be all like ahhhhhh! I don't get it.

So are realistic suits somehow more scary because they look more real? I'm confused. I'm not trying to frighten people.

For me its not scary, but instead gives off a predatory appearance, maybe that's what they mean? I've seen fursuit's like yours before so I dont see the issue really. If its a younger social group bothering you about it then I wouldn't worry to much.

I personally see your Minx as a beautiful expression of many things and truly unique, and that is what in my humble opinion I believe is truly what the idea of getting a fursuit is all about - not only composed of any animal traits you wish to represent with it, but yourself, because foxes and bunnies are not anthropomorphic - but you are with it, and so you base your ideas of it off that. It can be anything.

What FlyHeyna says makes for a good point now that I think about it, in that a lot of people are explained what furry is in terms of mascots or fun animal suits that kids enjoy seen on videos or in person - and those are good for publicity of people who dress up in fursuits, but they could certainly be less representative of their true selves. You are just on the outter edge of a certain peoples' understandings.

It is like how I chose my tail to be as discrete and true to measurement as I could, as opposed to a larger or more uniquely coloured tail that would stand out more. With the first, people identify it first with a tiger rather than anything furry, with the second, people may have widely varying opinions based on smaller outlooks and their opinion with what furries or fursuits are if they even have one. Not a lot of people have really thought of it.

Those are a tiger's views on that, in any case.

When you take pictures with a bone scythe it does look on the dark side, included with dark filters.

You're attire does also give off a look of mystery.

Fursuits can be a bit bizzare this way, I find people can be pretty cliquey like that and will even judge others over something like who made their suit. But enough of that grumble from me.

Even furries have their norms that they don't like to deviate from too much, I find that more realistic suits and sometimes even uncommon creatures can get the shaft because there is a group must-fit-in mentality in some parts of the fandom. The unspoken norm is more or less that people wanna be goofy in suit, bounce around, wave, high five, give hugs and their next best weapon aside knowing how to act in suit is having a suit that comes off as cute and fluffy with big "I wuv you" eyes. It seems to come down to weather you wanna be "wow, thats a raptor!" or "daww wook at the wappy!"

I have a suit of myself as well and these are just things I have noticed in my short couple years of suiting. I would try not to take it too personally, just some people don't tend to share the same self-reflective nature in fursuiting and like to keep it at the toony bouncy level where nothing is taken too serious.
