Hi everyone, I've heard of furry & otherkin irc channels, but I'm not yet sure quite how irc works.  There's a server and a channel to join, right?  I know of certain rooms, but what about the step before that?  I'm not sure how to join.  Any pointers?

Yep, you download an IRC client appropriate for your system. Then configure it to connect to irc.furnet.org

Then join your channel, #vfur or #bcfurries

I've been meaning to ask about the IRC channel for a while, thanks for that, Ratt.

And if you need an irc client, for Windows you have a few choices.  Googling "IRC Client" would give you a lot of choices, but a couple I've tried are:

mIRC @ http://mirc.co.uk (http://mirc.co.uk)
(free to try, for 30 days I think)

Trillian @ http://trillian.cc (http://trillian.cc)
(free, or pay for pro, also replaces a bunch of IM programs in one client)

Feel free, anyone else, to post clients for other OS's.  I don't have much out-of-windows experience.
