Greetings everyone,
I'm a graduatee from Simon Fraser university, currently looking for a career as an editor. I'm also a rather large dragon with a long snout, faded red and orange hues, large wings with a a tiny tear or two, and kind, ancient eyes.
I'm really glad I found this community. Since long before I knew what a furry or an otherkin was, I felt as I walked that I had wings. I suppose it's why I started wearing long, heavy, swishy coats: they felt right. Having a long coat is like having four eyebrows or hands: all the more expressions and gestures you can make. I started calling myself The Troubadour as I learned more about literature; a troubadour is a poet who travels around the countryside to tell stories of ancient days and precious legend. For affection, feel free to call me Trou, or True. I hope the pun isn't a conceit. Like most dragons, I'm silly, loyal, affectionate, fiercely loving, snide, and witty.
As for the real world ("OOC"?), I'd have to say it's hard to really be self-actualized with some sort of costume; a fox seems more doable than a dragon. So I let my real self out through prose and casual role-play.
Cheers, everyone!

Hello and Welcome to the forum. :3 Nice to meet you :D
Welcome ! > w<
Nice to meet you Mr. Dragon, sir c:
Oh, one more thing.. SFU Burnaby, or Surrey? o;
Hi there guys. I was at SFU Burnaby. I had a double-major in English and Philosophy. But I haven't knighted yet, so no sir necessary. Here, I think a smiley is in order; just this once... let me see *shuffle* Ah, this will do. ;)
Dragons just seem to be exploding outta the mountains around here! (no surprise as we got a LOT of them!)
always nice to see another scaly in the mix, Welcome! ^.=.^
It's an invasion! *firefirefirefirepillowsfire*
There is always more room for a new Dragon i would think ^.=.^ Nice to meet you *shakes paw*
Your lucky to go to such a beautiful school. Welcome aboard by the way. I hope you enjoy and I look forward to maybe meeting you at the upcoming furmeet this saturday.
Oh, I may go to an event some day; but perhaps only once I've gotten to know people. I have a prior obligation on Saturday anyhow. Tempting, though.
Welcome from the admin team. How did you find the site?
I'm good at websearching. I suddenly remembered there being a large furry community in Vancouver, and so it wasn't hard to find. Vancouver's so quirky a city, I'm sure I could find anything I suddenly desired. =D

An editor, huh? What kind of editor?
Both kinds, actually, or at least I'd like to be: I correct grammar and spelling, and I make stylistic & thematic recommendations. I'm gaining amateur experience by helping a few friends with their work. Still, it doesn't seem to do any good: no one wants editors anymore. Everyone thinks spellcheck is all well and good, and it's just not. In The Vancouver Sun, people screw up all the time these days, and a generation ago a typo in a newspaper was just unHEARD of. Now we have headlines like, "Obama's efforts becoming more harder", or articles with missing periods and incorrect homonyms. And yet, I'm laughed at when I offer my services to those clowns.
Greetings, I hope you will find some good friends and acquaintances.
Re: editing for the Sun, et al: yeah, getting in with the big papers is nearly impossible without a lot of experience, a journalism degree, etc. - they're a union shop, and the people who get in stay in as long as they possibly can. Publishing houses and similar companies are probably the best place to look. Don't be surprised if you need to move around to follow the jobs, though - that's the joy of the publishing / journalism industry, I've found.
